Hi all, I'm thinking of converting to ultilty belt/ harness from sling bag.

Have come accross thinkthank and lowepro belts, pros can share what you're carrying your lens with?

Cheers!

Just a Canon 60D w 18-200mm kit lens, 50mm prime, sometimes along with ext flash and a extra compartment for all the tiny parang parang...

My old bag just a simple one with detachable compartmants, have done its fair part but getting owear and tear liao... Tats why thinking of changing different:)
methods.

Btw, just got a thinktank speed belt v.2. @ TK Photo Funan.
They clearing their steriod v.1 @ 40 only but I found it a bit hard to fold and carry around when not wearing it...

I don't know why the chestvest hasn't been discussed much anywhere but I love my Newswear chestvest, weight is evenly spread throughout the body which makes it easy to move around and makes the weight more bearable, maybe you could check it out? :)

The old style SBO (before LBV) ? btw you mean, barang barang? i think it is not only dangerous to carry a long sharp machete (parang), but also illegal as well...although, it would fit on your SBO also . 60D + zoom lens goes into poncho pouch. . 50mm Prime into magazine pouch...

The lowepro technical vest looks good but abit too striking and expensive liao leh... Btw does it fits onto the thinktank speed belt?

I may be looking into getting a harness or single strap support since I dun like the belt to be too tight...

Check their website out. :)

It's something like SBO as what my friends would call it.

Hi there, the chestvest looks like for real pros, practical with the the pouches in front and perfect for weight distribution on the waist and shoulder and manoveuring since it can be wore higher on the tummy area. The shoulder strap look could have a little bit thicker/ padding though...

Btw, the waist buckle buckles from the back?

Well They were made originally for photo journalist. Ever since I got it I never thought how I'd live without it, I'm using the foul weather btw, have brought it to places and without it I wouldn't be able to capture some shots even in the rain(keeping my camera dry) as I can change lenses really quickly, carrying 3 lenses and a flash gun usually which fits up to my 70-200(without hood) and really hugs well to the body, so bending down for stuff and all wouldn't be a problem like some of the belt systems which I've tried using before(no offense to any belt system users)

I'd have to agree The straps could've been made with more padding as sometimes it does get irritating especially when you're out in the sun and sweating profusely(maybe I should buy a shoulder pad)

Yup the buckle is usually done behind, but there are actually various ways you could carry the chestvest.

Anyway They are distributed locally by CP maybe you could go down and try it out sometime :)

Think tank belts (I have all 3 types), skin pouches and pixel harness. Works awesome for me.

I got my belts from army market. Cheap and lasting. They have some pouches that are good to store memory cards and other small tools to aid you in your shoot

Not a pro, but I use the Lowepro tactical system. Totally remembered my NS days wearing the LBV :bsmilie:

It depends on needs.

If you are mountaineering, hiking, Nepal and Himalayans, general outdoors etc, you will appreciate the thickness belt with the most support for your back - Steroid belt.

If you are doing sports stuff in cities, stadiums, golf course, etc - Speed Belt is the most generalist one that covers you from those sporting events to a hotel ballroom wedding and dinners.

If you are carrying less gear and you don't want the bulk at the waist, Skin belt - but expect the heavy stuff like pouches containing bigger lenses to sag and pull against the belt.

i'm using thinktank belt system. Worth it and good quality.
