Hi all, I recently acquired an old industar 50-2 (50mm f/3.5 m39 mount) from ebay, as well as a m39-nex adapter for my nex.
When I mount the lens, despite turning the focus ring back and forth, nothing from infinity to stated mfd was in focus.
When I added the extension tubes that came with it, I couldn't get macro focus as well. Thus I believe it's not an adapter/flange distance issue.
So I decide to try take the lens apart. There's a rear element that could b easily screwed out, and so is the front element, with the aperture in between.
Glass-wise, there are some very minute hairline scratches and 2 micro bubbles which are only visible under direct LED, so I also believe that's not the issue. With just the front element off and the aperture stopped down, it worked like a pinhole lens, giving soft lo-fi focus. Wide open, I get soft center focus and blurred corners.
So I was hoping if any FSU lens experts here could give me some insights to what might be wrong with my lens. I'm suspecting it's either smth wrong with my front element, or there's a missing lens element in between... according to the listing, it's supposed to be a "3-element tessar design", but I only have 2? Or was the other element fused with the front/back element?
The lens was relatively cheap and shipped from Ukraine, so I don't want to go thru the trouble to return it or whatever.
