rubber or silicon dslr body wrap waterproof?

Hi! all. I saw on some online sites they selling those DSLR tight body wrap. think the material is silicon or rubber. Is it meant to make it waterproof or at least splash proof from rain water? Cause was thinking of getting one for my canon eos 650D. If it really works the way i think it works, where can i buy it locally?

Nah. Water will just seep underneath.

If you want a splashproof camera, then get a splashproof camera. In other words you should have done your research before buying a 650D

Then you could have gotten a weathersealed dslr.

But cameras are not made of tofu. A little bit of rain won't matter unless it lands just nice on the buttons. ;-)

Please.. some rain water dont kill your camera...even if its not sealed. (in any case..even sealed doesnt mean it will be 100% ok)

Dont worry so much. If it really does worry you. Then just go buy a camera that is being market as about to withstand water/tough condition. (If it make you feel better).

Something like this? Think about it, if there are cutouts for button access, how does that improve water proofing at all?

For ad-hoc protection from rain, look into a rain sleeve/cover? Stash it in your camera bag.

Real waterproofing (aka dive housing) will cost more than your camera ;p

shrinkwrap it before putting into the silicone/rubber thingy. For extra precaution, put the whole thing into a ziploc.

For 'true' waterproofing... you'll need a dive housing... which will cost more than the camera you're using... :think:
