More and more people are sharing their lives in facebook. I see my frienfs posting their partying photos, family outings photos, kids photos, CNY gathering photos, etc. Are we revealing too much of ourselves to the unknown? What are the risks associated with posting photos of our love ones on fb or any social media?

Pros and cons lah.

good thing is i get:bsmilie: to know who my children are associated with. LOL
I get to know my cousins better.

The bad thing is before you post anything, think twice. LOL

but if everyone were to think twice, then the good things also gone. LOL

As long as you don't post photos of you, not wearing pants. It should be OK :bsmilie:

Social media is a good way to share your happiness and your photography skill :)

Many friends have asked me to take wedding photos for them but I have decline their request.

But photos of him wearing skirt can post or not? :bsmilie:

Can. But he must change nick to "ManWearSkirt" :bsmilie:

When considering such profound questions, one sometimes question if one should live in a cave, in complete seclusion and safe isolation.

Don't.
In your youth you are care free and reckless in posting own life photos.
One or two decades later, they may come back to harm you in unexpected ways.

Looking at the current generation, your reckless photos will be among gazillion other embarassing photos on the net.. So dont sweat it :bsmilie:

Maybe I hv been living in the cave. If I have to wear a skirt, I will mosaic my face. I will stay anonymous. Remember the French fortune teller with a team of hackers behind the scene.

I limit who sees or not see what is shown in my FB. I pick very very carefully who to include and not. I am not into trying have as many people be seen as my friends when it is not. Easy to keep adding but really... how many do you really "call" friend in your FB.

Also I never mix work with private life. I think it is a lot less problematic that way. So no working people gets included in my personal FB. Also I would rather show my private life photos then my better shot photos to ensure they are not unauthorised use of them.

Be careful of how you censor your face. IIRC, there was a wanted suspect who swirl, twirl and whirl his face around with Photoshop and posted the photo on his facebook account. FBI "undo" his edit and he's now incarcerated in a federal or state prison. :bsmilie:

Also there are mathematical algorithms used in digital forensic science which will attempt to add missing bits of data and information intelligently into a pixelated mosaic thus producing several possible facial composites that can be used to identify somebody of interest, I believe some will busted in such way as well. Of course, you'll have nothing to worry about if you are a law-abiding citizen. :bsmilie:
