Hello everyone,

Sorry about my rant first. I'm having an annoying issue with Windows 7. I was forced to upgrade my several years of usage with XP because many of the games I intend to play are no longer supported. I have Windows 7 for couple of years with dual booting together with my Win XP. I dumped the Windows 7 previously because the search function sucks. Now I'm back with Windows 7 and I have to live with it. The questions are, though I have searched google for answers, I cant seem to find a finite solution to my search. Example, I tried searching in XP, hundreds of my pictures came out. When I did the same in Win 7, I typed "Type:images" or "Kind: pictures" only 9 pictures popped up. Now, this is getting on my nerves. The bad news is, I bought a new copy of Windows 8 based on my friend's recommendation which I have not yet installed. I really hope win8 is not going be the same as win7.

Any kind soul to help a win7 noob here? I really appreciate that..

Thanks...

You could always download google desktop and use that to search...

Thanks Rashkae, I think I finally found the solution. There seem to be no mention anywhere to indicate that I must "include in the library" for drive search. It's finally working! Its kinda silly but I'm going to ask my buddy how he searches. Time to dump WinXp and go either Win7 or Win8! Thanks for your great help again.. :)

no windows. no problem.

Use Linux or Mac OS :)

Do not use Windows Search.
I tried it once a long time ago. Even when it was functioning, it was below expected standards. Wimpy.

Since you will be using Windows 7 or 8, presumably you are using a 64 bit system.

Then try the real thing. It is free.

Locate32 (download the 64 bit version)

Locate32

Another good search tool that is free.

Everything

erm.. i have no problem using either Windows 7 or 8, and especially the search tool

those who think that it sucks, either have no patience finding out how it works, or are the typical apple fanboys.
