Cool, i'll book out after my reservist to check it out. Keen on this lens.

I thought your name should be in the mix too..... image your portraits with this lens! !!

400mm? 560mm? madness :bsmilie:

Yes... not many people do such portraits and you are in your own league!!!

Might as well use the 1200L on 1.6x crop and 2x extender :bsmilie:

canon has 5200mm f14 lens

Thanks. I learnt something new today

Any expert can share why long zoom lens always so big? With the same fov, a high grade binocular or scope can be much smaller.

Camera sensors are millions years behind the technology of our eye balls...

because bino is for your eye. Do you know how powerful your eye is compared to a camera sensor?

Your eye can autofocus, autozoom, auto whatever. You eye don't see things in humongous megapixels, doesn't need ED elements and all kind of thing to correct CA etc.

While a camera system doesn't have the natural power of your eye. To produce high megapixel count quality images, your super telephotos are naturally bigger as higher resolving power is required.

Bino and scopes are optically inferior to a super tele for capturing images. Not to mention they do not have auto focus nor auto aperture nor IS.

If bins and scopes were up to par then you'd see them being used at the Olympics, World Cup and other world events.

Pls do not go off topic. :)

Those attending, kindly take photos of the event and a weighing scale. No one knows the actual weight of this lens.

For those attending the event, please ask how costly the 200-400 1.4x will be. I've heard figures of over US10,000!!!

I hope the built in teleconverter will become standard equipment in lessor lenses as newer replacements are made in the future. It would be nice to see a multi-teleconverter in a single lens i.e 1.4x + 2.0x + 3.0x.

this lens is not officially release yet,so the price will not be disclosed.
the focus is quite fast on the 1DX which they used for all their white bazookas.
