Which camera backpack that includes tripod and laptop?

Hi guys, I'm not bag guy, but I'm looking into investing in a bag that can house my camera, 13" MBP, and a tripod. Therefore I hope to be able to get some help here.

I saw the only backpack that has met my requirements so far is the Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 350. Anyone has any other backpack recommendations?

P.S. I went down to CP MS and they also only offer the lowepro model. Apparently they do not offer any other brands that can meet my fussy requirements I know some of you might think 'carry so many things, not heavy ah? Siao eh.' but I've been caught up in this situation where I can't bring my laptop along when shooting which I really needed to.

How much camera gear are you going to carry? what lenses and what camera... and other stuff... then it makes more sense to give you recommendations..

If not, all we can say is, go down to the stores and try all the bags out.

I would recommend going down to TK Foto at Funan level 2. They carry a lot of bags, from Lowepro, Think Tank, Vanguard and Kata... then head up to SLR Revolution at Funan Level 4 to try out the Tamrac. Or you can go to Sim Lim Square 6th floor Orient Photo, they offer Lowepro, Think Tank, Kata and Tamracs but limited models of each bag.

I'm looking at about 2-3 lenses with some accessories (ND filters etc). That's all. I've went down to a couple of stores (not TK yet), and none carries a bag that has a dedicated tripod and laptop holder.

How much camera gear are you going to carry? what lenses and what camera... and other stuff... then it makes more sense to give you recommendations..

I went shopping for a haversack yesterday as well.

TK is cutting down on their stocks on Kata and Tamrac and they don't have much choice for haversacks which can carry laptop and tripod.

I end up getting a Crumpler Karachi Outpost (Medium). That can hold a number of lenses and bodies + space for a 15" MacBook Pro and a tripod. For 13" laptop, you can take a look at the small version of it.

That bag looks nice, but expensive at the same time How much did you get it for? So far so good for you? Took a look at the S size, seems to fit my needs perfectly... Hmmm...

Consider Kata bags....... 466i or 467i series. Much better than lowepro

Actually, many backpacks do provide both. Just that the tripod holder may not be apparent at first sight. Think tank backbacks mostly comes with tripod holder attachments that comes with the bag. You have to option of installing those straps if needed. Lowepro Fastpacks 250AW and 350AW also gives you tripod holders (remember these are the new fastpacks... note the AW behind the model number. The older ones without AW do not give you tripod holders). Other bags like Kata 3n1 series also feature a tripod attachment you can attach to hold a tripod. Lowepro flipside AW bags also give you that option.. Maybe you want to check out the manufacturer sites for more info...

no problem. Kata is the best bag that i have tried. it's not over-grossly expensive, it is very light weight with enough protection.

but i suggest u go to shop and put it on your back and see if u like the feeling or not.

Since you put Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 350 as one of your choice, I assume u need a bag that size with a compartment for personnel stuffs.
I went thru the same path, went to THE shop at Funan 2nd Level, they got a whole racks of bags, but the staffs there are not even the least helpful to give any suggestion, so after spending an hr there digging thru those bags I still left clueless on what to buy...
In the end, I went to MS color in AMK (the one beside the coffee shop) and the boss give very good suggestion, so in the end I got a list of bags that I shortlisted.
Depend on the camera body and lenses, you might need to choose a size bigger or smaller then what I suggested here. Best is to bring your camera gear and try on spot.
Lowepro DSLR Video Fastpack 350
Kata 3N1-33
Tamrac Evo 8 or Evo 9
Vanguard Up Rise 48

All the above got laptop compartment and and able to carry tripod, except for Kata that need to purchase a extra accessory to carry tripod.
For me I got Kata 3n1-33 and the tripod add-on accessory. But realise that I carry a small tripod actually can workaround on that accessory with a trip to Daiso....

I am using the Vanguard Uprise 48 (got it second hand), can carry massive amount of gears (2 bodies, a couple of lenses, filters, tripod, laptop computer, etc etc). New one sell at around 170 to 175. It is pretty budget for a bag that could carry that much. I am pretty impress with the build quality of the bag.

The Kata Bumblebee series were great, but I didn't like the design as compared to the DR-466 (personal preference)

Why I didn't consider the Lowepro 350 was because of the price.
