Wanted to buy a Canon Speedlite 430EX2, this salesman quote me $500 and say not much people will buy and recommend me to buy other brands. I already know the market rate is about $410-450, so I told him I will consider first. Before I leave he quoted me $400, I again told him I will consider first. (From $500 to $400, so he initially want to con me $100 already). After surveying around, I went back to the shop as he was serving a customer, he ask me wait first. He said in a tone which irritates me like" I give you discount, so you wait lah"

After 5-10 minutes of waiting for him to serve the customer, is my turn. I told him I want the Canon Speedlite 430ex2. He again say you wait lah. At that time he got no more customer, ask me to wait for what. I told him again I want the speedlite and guess what he say, he said he does not want to sell to me. So pissed off with this salesman. If he cannot sell me at $400, then please don't quote this price to me in the first place. So angry with this "Tua Kang" salesman and wasted my time.

Aaaaaand why did you go there and not to our recommended shops? No point ranting and complaining, by not going to our recommended shops and instead admitting to going to sim Lim con shops you are making yourself look silly

this thread serves no purpose, other than to whine about being unfairly treated.

suck it dude. this ain't a perfect world we live in. you'll always meet people like this. why let it ruin your day?

live long, and prosper

Logically speaking, if he was a trustable salesman, he won't have quoted you $100 above the price he wanted to charge. You also know the market rate is $410 to $450, so tell me, why don't you go elsewhere which will quote you $410 right off, chop chop settle and you can walk off happy. Were you trying to save the $10? If so, then my sense is that I won't have gambled with my time (if it was indeed so precious) given the knowledge the salesman is not straightforward.

So my comment is that, you should have walked off the moment he quoted you $500. Period. I'm not really sure why you hung around for when the maximum benefit you might have achieved was $10.

and i doubt the salesman will sell him at $400. he might do a "oh, u need to pay extra for warranty/watever" .. in the end...still paying more.

its the same tactic being used for so many yrs.

Yes, but people still fall for it. Or take something out like the flash battery cover, then say to add need to pay $X amount (ok, maybe not so applicable for flash). :bsmilie: We've all heard it before... But I guess sometimes, people just want to try luck. It's just not worth it, I feel.

I find that your thread title is offensive in a public forum.

I believe you would not like the salesman or anyone using the same word to describe you.

thread title edited.

:bsmilie:

yea. creating awareness to condemn SLS on a whole?

or just to create awareness about this store. but what's the name? i guess TS is afraid of being sued like one "forum" always does over here :bsmilie:

you have to be fast to catch a con .... when he down to $400 you should have immediately "chiak" his new price

your desire to continue to still shop around when you already know the market is 410-450 (in Singapore) was not wise

what were you hoping to newly discover ?

sorry

Never go there to buy camera/video stuff, it's a common knowledge among local. Like what others said only OP is fair and Alan got mood swing sometime good sometime bad.

I often go to the famous black shop song brother at L1. You will be surprise that their price might be cheaper than those popular recommended shops. But I don't ask for price. I tell them if they are willing to sell me at this X price! Show them the cash in your hand that you means business.

I disagree with some of the bros above and I totally sympathize with TS. ....it's not a perfect world but doesn't means this kind of behavior is acceptable.....it's easy for old horse to say this and that but there are also newbie and tourist visiting the mall.....without creating awareness constantly.....there will be more and more people fell victims and bullied by these depictable salesmen.....if sg want to be shopping heaven, I hope there will be a task force from authority to wipe off these group rotten apple.....if not it could spread like disease
