Upgrading from D80 - D90, D300s or D7000?

Hi, I'm thinking it's about time to upgrade my aging D80. I have no intention of going full frame, so I'm looking at either D90, D7000, D300, D300s. I don't think I'll be shooting video with the camera either. Mostly I shoot landscapes and macros with tripod, so low light performance is not a big deal. I just want good handling (buttons and dials), low weight, sharp pictures, good metering and AF. Also, D80 does not have mirror lockup function, so that's another reason to upgrade.

D90 is the cheapest upgrade, but is it worth spending money going from D80 to D90? The biggest advantage I can see is Live View for macro

What do you guys think?

Even ask 10 ppls still prefer the D7k has much better.

Thanks so far. I was attracted to a used D300 because it was cheap, but didn't realize it was quite heavy compared to the D7k. Still other than weight actually I think it meets my requirements. I don't need the megapixels and ISO, like I said I shoot a lot with tripod and don't print at large size.

Just go the D7000.

D7000 for me too.. and it's cheap now also.. less than $1k... for 2nd hand

D300/s still same IQ as D90 and the only D300s look more power and Pro Looks.
If wanna shoot at night time in low light, I am not prefer the cam is useful in night shots.
Unless you wanna attach the flash light together.

Cause in this period from D300 via D7000 had up & down only.
Once you get wrong and miss out a lots ISO:3200 night shots photos.

I hope you get what I mean.. At same time bring both body in D7000 I can cover up to 90% of shooting & clear the image processing.
From D300 my photos only cover up 50% some due to lack ISO and noisy pictures.

+1 for D7000 it has newer technology than D90 and D300s. The extra features that comes with D7000 will come in handy when the time comes that you need those features.

I upgraded from D90 to D7000 and that took me a long time to consider. It is worth it. Quite different than I originally thought of ( It's more pleasant to use than the D90 which itself is quite a joy to shoot with). My advice, if budget allows :---D7000

Go with the D7000 if you want to follow the DX path.

Let me offer another view..

D300 or D300s offers a lot of bang for the buck now as well, and it meets your requirements because you do not need high ISO performance. In terms of features, and direct access to controls it trumps the D7000. But that said, the D7000 also offer a wide Dynamic range for landscape work. In the end, it all comes down to your budget and what you want to get out of your target camera body.

Pricing wise they are all good buys nowadays with the mad rush to FF.

If budget allow, I would go for D7k or D300s either new or used... But D300s will be more heavier than D7k and I more prefer D7k

New DX camera likely to be D300 class, i.e. heavier. Wait if you are thinking about D300s and have funds to burn, i.e. likely in the 1.8-2k mark. D7000 is the best buy now.

Ya, if today don't have D600 & D800 and the D7k still the best.. The name still remain as The DX King

If this is an upgrade, make sure technology will last you for another 2-3yrs or don bother. My vote goes to D7000

I would vote for the D7000. I upgraded from D70 and found D7000 was a very competent camera and definitely future proof for the next few years.
