Hi,

My friends and some photo buddies managed to convinced me to consider upgrade my D700. The camera has been delivering decent shots with reasonable low light performance, good burst rate when required for some action shooting and good file size.

Thought of waiting further for something closer the D700 rather than just D800e or D600 despite the fact they are of much higher resolution and with the video function.

Posted this poll to see what the general D700 users have decided or felt the same like myself.

The prices for resale D700 isn't exactly cheap, and brand new cost the same as the D600. Should be an easy decision for you if you don't already own the D700. Unless you can find a good condition one at $1600, that's a different story altogether :)

Wolfton, TS already owns the D700.

TS, upgrade if you want to or need to. Don't do it because your friends tell you. Are there any features in the D800 or D600 that are attractive to you? Do you need the video etc?

Oops sorry, then different story already. I will keep and buy more lenses if that's the case :)

Dont submit to peer pressure. If you mention the D700 is doing OK and you're still happy with it. Why waste money?

Yet another thread.. "i feel like upgrading" but did not mention anything else. Cant really answer if you didnt say anything of what you need and want. You have to be more specific. (as for the poll..i dontknow how other people's decision can present your decision..You're taking the photo..not them taking it for you..)

If not..well..:dunno: in the end its really up to you of cos. Go ahead and upgrade or change it if doing so can make you a happier person.

According to Warren Buffet - If you buy things that you do not need, you may soon have to sell things you need.

Uncle Jopel is right,

If is a need, you will some how find the money eventually.

If it is a want, do whatever pleases you if you have the money.

Simple!

if you need movie capability - go ahead it's a big leap forward to have a d600 in terms of features.

if you don't then that probably is just for the sake of upgrading. I won't say no to it, in fact I will say go ahead! Always remember that you should keep a spare money incase of emergencies. Also, if you are very careful user. Even if you travel around the world dragging your d600, you can still sell it for more than 70% incase of emergencies. Our brothers here in CS are willing to buy that for the right price...

It's not a total loss in anyway, that is because you are holding a NIKON

Rich .. you change cam .. not rich you use the old cam.

Still take photo right ?

What a meaningless thread , just like asking if I should change my current Honda car to a newly launch Audi ..

Switch if you feel so. There is little that we can provide here. There will be people who are satisfied with their D700, and there are people who have dropped their D700 long ago in favor of the latest. Nothing right or wrong about that.

It all depend on what u need, whats ur style of shooting. if u do a lot of cropping and still want details then u need a higher resolution cam like D800/e
if u are need the high shutter speed then u stick to ur D700.
but if u upgrade to D800/e u might need to spend more $$ to buy lenses tt can fully utilize the high resolution.

Go straight to a D4 from a D700 & u will see a big improvement on every aspect of a D700......................:bsmilie:

Infact to me, a D800, D600 & D700 are all marketing on different things. A D600 will be much closer to a D700 as what I feel................:embrass:

Your still using D700??? Like seriously?

Man! That's a dinosaur! You don't feel Paiseh bringing that thing out issit?

Nowadays the bare minimum is 3 units of D4 and 3 units of D800, otherwise I don't see how you can enjoy the hobby and nowadays it is obviously near impossible for you to get any photos of remote decent quality with that D700.

Your friends sounds like great though.

Haha bro I hear your sarcasm

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Agree, 3 units, 1 for shooting, 1 for backup & 1 for collection. And 2 models, 1 to show the power of speed, the other to show the incredible details :bsmilie: With friends like these to "poison" you, you dont need enemies. Can sell the D700 in the B&S cheap cheap to benefit those less priviledged... Didnt know the D700 only produces "decent" shots & "reasonable" low light performance :bsmilie:
