I was at a community function.

The GOH went onto the stage with a group of children and other guests.

This photographer sat on the stage facing the GOH. He blocked all other photographer standing below the stage in front of the GOH from taking photos.

I wanted to upload his photo here, but I don't know how to do it. Any tip?

Thanks

is he the main photographer? who is the GOH? why so many photographers around?

he may have been the main photographer doing his job. he wants people looking at his camera, so that when he passes the images to the client, it doesn't have group shots of people staring elsewhere.

He was not the main photographers. There were many so call photographers(residents and enthus..).

He can be the main photographer(if he is a professional one), don't you think he should allow other a chance to take a shot instead of just blocking the way. We move away after we had taken a shot or few. It was an understanding among photgraphers or shall I put it as an 'Unwritten rules'?

What should we do? Chase him away.... tell him to move a side or...????

how do u even know he is not the official photographer? i guess such events, only official photographers have access to the stage. else imagine everyone go up the stage, how messy it will be?

In event coverage you will have a fair share of meeting both good and bad photographers and video-men.

He don't have to be professional to be main photographer. Sometimes, event organizer want to save cost and ask someone with camera to take pictures.
If he is assigned by event organizer to take pictures. Other photographers should let him do his job.

if you keep quiet about it there at that time ..... that means "Its OK with me and i accept it" ...... shout out then ..... or live with the question marks

I don't agreed. I had attended many such events. The main photographer stay on the ground to take photo and not on stage. He gave everbody a chance. To get a good position, he stood on a chair! That was the first time. Hope not to see him again!

it doesn't mean that all photographers work the same way. what do you think? we're North Korea?

not all photographers work the same way lah dude.

everyone got different eyes for composition.

some prefer stand back some prefer head on.

anyway if he is not the official why is he the only one one stage? So gungho? then what is pulling u back from joining him on stage? Just think about it.

Usually official photogs have access to "restricted" areas while the rest will always be behind the official photogs so they wun block his shots.

That's the norm.

NO. The "unwritten rule" is that you, as amateur/hobbyist/GWC stay OUT OF THE WAY of the main photographer. He is there to do a job, not to "give chances" to a bunch of GWC.

reminds me of the Uncle Bob thread

From what i understand reading all the posts, the one on stage was the assigned photographer & he doesnt need to give anyone good space to shoot coz to him...only his shots matters to the organizer...
