It would be best to be able to take some photos with the DSLR body just to make sure the critical functions are all right.
I suggest you invite your friend (who uses that same brand camera system, and thus has compatible lenses) along to do a reasonably meaningful test. That way you have some confidence when you part with your hard-earned cash
If you are not able to find a friend who can help in this way, I would advise you to purchase a DSLR with a lens together.
Why r u getting a body when you don't have any lenses? Suggest to go buy new body with kit lenses. At least can go out and take photos after charging the battery.
