What lens you guys use at cosfest?

The lens that we have.
If not..we rent lens or buy new lens.

Does it really matter what we really use? So long as that lens gives us the picture that we wanted, I thought that is good enough?

Personally, I use a combination of 17-50 and 55-250...

What lens should I get to have more bokeh?
Sorry new to photography

Personally, I feel that 50 f1.8 is a nice lens that does that. But I find it hard to use in many shoots in the event. As 50mm on crop, will more or less only allows head/body shots. Unless you have alot of space inbetween you and the cosplayer. So, I end up using 17-50 f2.8 instead.

17-50 Quite expensive, any lens to reco at lower price?

Cheapest option is 50mm f1.8 but with all the squeezing and blocking during cosfest, you don't have the luxury to move around.

what Is the price for 55-250?

I was primary using this lens only for the stage shots, (if you are wondering).... price wise, check out the B&S, I believe it have not fluctuate much of $250-$300.

@250mm.

@250mm

@79mm

Please also note that this lens is a "slow" lens in the events hall, you will find yourself bumping ISO to rocket high to freeze a stage movement. But, I rather have a noisy shot than no shot...but that's me..

Hmm I am using 1100d , So I am thinking of getting 50mm which is crop or 55-250¿

What were you trying to shoot? Stage or Ground walkabout shots? If it's the ground shoots, I would suggest a flash over a lens.

Mostly ground.

Mostly ground.

If it's ground shoots that you are after, I recommend that you consider getting a flash first before a lens. No matter how wide your aperture is, if there isn't enough light, there isn't enough light... You may want to post some images to illustrate what kind of image you want to achieve thou...

*btw despite earlier saying that 50mm may be too tight, I manage to take 1 shot using it, (a combination of 50mm f1.8 + flash)*

You need a good 3-4m away from the cosplayer to get this shot.

I like bokeh shot which I always can't get it

I think someone once said, Zoom far far, Stand near near, shoot close close. Sure get your OOF effect :p

Try using 55mm on your 18-55, stand as close as you can to frame your subject (make sure the distance between your subject and the background is as far as possible) and take the shot.

Also, I believe the reason why you can't get the "bokeh" shot is because your subject's background is not far enough or you are not close enough.

There is no such thing as a "bokeh shot". Please get your basic knowledge right first.

OK, then I do not know how to explain it, it like a shot that blurred the background and focus on foreground

Oh, I shall try it! Thanks for your tip!
