SanDisk Extreme Pro vs Other Brand Class 10 SDHC

Hi to all,

Would need your advise on the quality of photo taken using the ( SanDisk Extreme Pro vs Other Brands Class 10 SDHC).

Not on the transfer speed but on photo quality, is there any different in photo quality for the 2 types of cards mention. Presently using (memento class 10 SDHC) but going to buy another one but the price of the (extreme pro) is so much higher than the card i'm using now.

I don't see any difference in the image quality when I use a normal card and a Extreme Pro card

Shldnt image quality be exactly the same?? The differences will be in areas like reliability, transfer speed, durability n such no?

definitely, absolutely no difference in image quality on fast/ slow cards. The only difference is the read and write speed from your camera to the card, and from the card to your computer.

Image quality is the same..... Image quality doesn't depend on the cards!

Most people will be shooting with jpg and fast cards will not be necessary unless you are shooting raw file which is a few times bigger in size.

Other than that, faster cards are useful if you shoot videos (all class 10 cards are more than sufficient), or if you need to shoot continuous shots at once, like sports events.

If you take photos like casual shooter, a Class 4 card is more than sufficient and you can get a much larger memory size which is more useful.

Image quality is not affected. a faster card only helps clearing the buffer of the camera faster than a regular card. A cameras buffer will indicate how many shots you can take in rapid speed before it slows down or stops. Most DSLRS have decent buffer for regular use. While some pro DSLRs have a better buffer for holding more shots. A cards transfer speeds will give you an idea. A cards read speed may be fast but the Sustained write speed may be slow would then mean you have reached a bottle neck

A class 10 card is more than suitable for a majority of people. as for pro its the reliability and build quality of the card along with the speed, as cost is a tradeoff for dependability.
as for the TS question Sandisk does make dependable cards along with Raw steel by hoodman that some people swear by.

Ps. I have yet to see conclusive proof that a slow speed card can cause data corruption as the camera wants to write to it faster than whatt the card can handle. if that is confirmed then your image quality can suffer due to partial data loss.

Only writing speed and transfer speed depend on the card. Image quality will be the same unless you change the settings on the camera itself.

As others already mention, photo quality will not be affected but VIDEO quality, or should I say recording capability may suffer if card does not write fast enough.

Class 10 is merely a universal rating that simply means above 10mbs, with the advancement in video capability of cameras and dslr, u should be looking at write/read speed instead of merely eg class 6 vs 10.

Eg for d800, I seen reviewers recommending 60mbs as min for video.

Digital is not analog. In the old days of magnetic cassette tapes, high quality tapes could give clearer music.

Digital is digital. It's all 1s and 0s, regardless of the media.
