Hi,

Anyone used a tripod in the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome glasshouses? Any restrictions?

Thanks.

No restrictions , go ahead and enjoy ~ :)

The next logical question would be: How about the OCBC skyway? Possible to deploy tripods or is it too narrow? If not, how about gorilla pods?

why not just call in and ask. or bring it down. you're bound to use it anyway for either landscape or macro. so you can ask any staff on the ground

A whole bunch of reasons why...

1) For one thing, I don't have a gorillapod. I might consider getting one if its feasible when tripods are not.

2) Calling them up is one thing. Do they know what is a gorillapod? They might say yes go ahead but is it feasible? The skyway seems to be supported by cables. I don't know how much vibration or swaying up there that might render tripods useless. Only fellow photographers would know.

3) I reckon people are going to ask this question sooner or later, so I might as well be the first to lump it in one thread. Easier for anyone if they do a search next time.

4) Haven't seen this question being ask elsewhere, might be nice if googling for answers to this question leads to this little thread (and thus, this forum) here.

:)

so how? Any kind folks would like to enlighten me, and any other folks who wants to know?

Went during 2nd day opening , only tried the flower dome and cloud forest ( tons of tripod around )
Never go up the OCBC tower ( super tree ) .
think its $5 just to go up , never see any tripod up there when I went or maybe none when i was there at that moment .

Thanks all. Good to know for when I go over there...

i'm talking about tripods. and like i mentioned, if NO ONE ELSE knows, the next best thing is to be the first to go down and do it right?

i wonder where common sense has gone to :dunno:

Thanks the useful questions and reply. But for those sarcasm please keep them to yourself since it's not constructive at all.

i know you're talking about me. so...which part of the replies i gave below are sarcastic?

simply put, TS is not thinking. so i'm doing some thinking for him and explaining the rationale behind it all

1) Considering the fact the second post right after TS has already given the answer for ~ 2 hrs before you even post your non-answer, plus the fact that your post is immediately after mine, common sense tells me that the logical conclusion is that you are answering my post instead.

2) You say "if no one else knows"... well, again the answer to TS's question is already in the second post. Fellow member goes by the name of "Andy Lim" already knew and replied! Did you actually read? On another note, if you don't ask, then how you know no one else knows? Chicken and egg question actually...

3) You didn't mention anything that feels along lines of "if NO ONE ELSE knows" in your previous reply. OK, maybe my English comprehension/reading/eye-sight is really bad then...

i'm answering your 2nd post. because i've been in the domes with my tripod. seems like eaglehorn doesn't read carefully does he

Sorry, I don't get what you are saying? I am lost coz I am asking about OCBC skyway. What has it gotta do with the domes? TS ask a simple question and Andy Lim gave a simple answer. The question is answered and over as far as I see it. :dunno:

hi boss, if i may be allow to clear the air for TS:

my first post here was to answer TS' 2nd question which is:

The next logical question would be: How about the OCBC skyway? Possible to deploy tripods or is it too narrow? If not, how about gorilla pods?

ok, ok, I think I see where the source of confusion is. TS (being "TheadStarter") is NoBob. He/She asked the first and only one question. I am CamInit. I asked the 2nd question, which is a logical extension of the first.

Okay, no issue now. Good thing its all cleared up. :)

Now, perhaps somebody can answer my question on OCBC skyway...

Most parts of the walkway are too darned narrow. I went on the second day and it was horrendously shaky on the bridge. So good luck to those long exposures when you have people tromping along :p

Bring tripod for what???
