Didn't really know where to post this, but here's a source for DIY lens cleaning supplies.
This came about when I bought some micro 4/3 adaptors for my E-PM1 (see my mods in the Oly forum) and started getting hold of some old manual focus lens from the 80's era. Of course, many of them would have fungus and there are quite a few articles on the 'Net about how to clean them up.
Of note is the use of Cold Cream - which is used to clean the skin and in particular, remove make up. I've searched high and low in Singapore and even my wife and daughter have not heard of Cold Cream - Pond's, Nivea and so on. There are just all kinds of skin cleanser...Basically, upon applying it to the affected lens part, one just has to remove the whole mess and the fungus comes off - and no need for water and all that.
Then there is use of Windex - the ammonia based window cleaner for subsequent cleanings. I called the local SC Johnson office and they say they don't sell that formulation in Singapore anymore.
Last week, 11-15 June 2012 - I was in the Sunway Lagoon area for a seminar and in Sunway Pyramid at Ace Hardware - they had Windex Classic the ammonia-D version. Pricey as window cleaners go, but about 1L goes for M$22. No doubt it's available at other Ace outlets in Malaysia.
A little walk on, at Daiso - they had Japanese Cold Cream - what I gather was that the brand was Topuran - but sumimasen - ingredients in Nihon - only M$5 for 100g.
So for all you DIYers, head over to Sunway Pyramid, floor B2. No telling how long more these things are available.
As usual, all use of these chemicals are strictly anecdotal, gleaned from various sources on the 'Net.
Although I must say I have tried them successfully on "damaged" lenses at various levels of disassembly.
