CF Card Speed Test

Hello to all bros,

May I know is there any software that i can test the speed of the card, CF? I would like to know the actual speed instead of the marking on the Card body itself and also do a comparison of the cards as well.

Tested my cards with ATTO Benchmark. Lexar 4GB 300X & Silicon power 8GB 400X, normal USB 2.0 all-in-one card reader, Macbook Air 2011 edition.

Lexar read 22-24MB/s write 31MB/s
Silicon Power 18-20 MB/s write 31MB/s

Any idea, why both are far under standard, and Silicon power worse 400X, even behind leexar 300X? Is it my testing environment issue?

Anyone can advise?

So according to your test, how many X does that translate into for each card?

Is it 50X or 100X only?

My Mistake on read & write value, in terms of X value both only 200X (as "X" normally refer to reading speed)

Checked from website, SD and CF memory card performance, USB reader does have limit. Other than this, from my result above, the Silicon Power 400X, no mater how still behind Lexar 300X.

You got 31MB/s for the Silicon Power 400X and Lexar 300X cards. ... ... Limit of USB2.0 and Limit of USB2.0 reader.

For USB 2.0 with USB 2.0 reader (depends on chipset used), it will NEVER get good performance in read or write speed. Limited speed.



For superspeed, you need USB3.0 with USB3.0 reader. Good for those High-end memory card that stated read speed and write speed.

For camera (DSLR), the camera hardware/software ... must support high read/write ... then high-end memory card is worth.

agree .. get a usb 3.0 card reader and u will know how fast the 400x 600x 1000x are
 

Speed in X should be the lower of the two. i.e. write speed and NOT read speed.
So it is not 200X.
 

Hi, Thanks for all the inputs. Appreciated it so much. I also agree it is USB 2.0 & also the reader limitation.

One thing I still wondering why the SP 400x still below Lexar 300X in terms of write speed. As Read speed both reach the same, this may due to USB reader & USB 2.0 limits. Or it is just quality of SP 400X?
