Singapore is 4th most desirable place to live & work

Singapore is 4th most desirable place to live & work in the world.

Now let's be happy and grateful and complain less.

:)

"The report - which interviewed 2,353 people globally - also showed that the workforce was getting more internationalised."
Survey for 2,353 expats :bsmilie:

Last year, S'pore rose to 4th most expensive city in the World!
This year, 4th most desirable place to live & work in the world.

This show that the expats pay have rise quite significantly.

I think S'pore also rises to have a large number of complainers about car prices, foreign talent (PRC), and expats.

You guys are so wrong, maybe from behind top 4 LOL....

now, who gonna ask those who is low pay??

i a bit suspicious.

Who think it is so for himself herself? KEE CHIU!!!!

4th most desirable place compared to WHAT? Is it compared to North Korea and Afghanistan? This is rubbish, as usual. Desirable in what sense? Desirable from whose point of view?
It is our home and we just have to live in it and accept the good with the bad. No need for false comparisons.

You mean we locals and the expats desire to pay COE?

You mean we desire the "scenic view"? Check out Rasa Sentosa Shangrila and what do you see? A view of muddy water and rows of container cranes at nearby Keppel.

How can this compare to the view from a hillside hotel on Koh Samui looking into the clear aquamarine waters of the Andaman sea.

I don't like these so-called 4th most, 3rd most, 2nd most comparisons.

Once upon a time, a foreign organisation called one of the local females....The 5th most powerful woman in the world. Not sure what was their agenda.
That is... until the crash and an organisation lost 58 billion.

you can't compare it this way. the reason Singapore is what it is these days is due to it being the Port of Call for the region over a hundred years ago. what's more, we still have that competitive edge in this industry. give or take a little. you win some, you lose some.

and comparing us to Koh Samui (and i thought some people said we have no choice yet brought up this ridiculous comparison).... why do we have to do that? do we have the availability of land just like Thailand?

sheesh. contradictory statements.

No comment on other things.

But this is super win. You are taking an obvious travel photo in good weather with one in Singapore with like, the usual cloudy weather.

Singapore is not as ugly as you make it sound. Suggest you take a good look around and take the time to appreciate the beauty here if you can. I always take offense when people make our little island sound like Mordor. Especially when they don't really feel that and just want to push their point for other reasons.

Why not take a look at these, they look so much better than the Koh Samui photo you have posted.

I think this claim of 4th best is highly credible. Singapore has always been a great pace to live and work..... for foreigners.

1. preominantly english-speaking work culture
2. relatively low cost of living (compared to Euro especially)
3. low tax rates
4. government friendly, pro-PR, pro-FT policies
5. SPGs
6. cosmopolitan lifestyle
7. relatively convenient and cheap public transport (again, if you compare with Europe, HK, Japan)
8. preferential treatment (especially employment opportunities at some MNCs)

so, I stress... GREAT PLACE FOR FOREIGNERS. But for Singaporeans.... it is less desirable.
Let me draw this analogy:

Rich foreigners come here to play. Like customers to geylang
FTs come here to work high-end jobs. Like the hookers at geylang
Singaporeans struggle to make ends meet in low-en jobs. Like the housekeeping workers at Geylang.

FTs come here to work high-end jobs. Like the hookers at geylang

Singaporeans struggle to make ends meet in low-en jobs. Like the housekeeping workers at Geylang.

1. darned it ..... our girls cant be prostitutes in their own country because FTs took these jobs ??!! this is not fair ! must complain !!
2. i tot hotel housekeeping staff are already mostly FTs ? ... oops they took these jobs that we dont want too kekekeke :bsmilie:

Need to do "country-hopping" to get better life eh. Work overseas and become expat, aim for the top 3 countries. ;) After 10-20 years then transfer back to SG as expat. Stay too long in one country, company slowly switch you to local pay and benefit.

Having lived oversea, now for 2yrs I have to admit that Spore is a good n desireable country to stay in.
Where I m staying now, things are expensive and standard of infrastruture are low.
Somehow I feel that those Sporean who compliant abt Spore are those who have never experience long stay oversea.
Frogs in well not knowing that life outside can be more harsh!!

Everyone has their own experiences. Sure you lived elsewhere, but there are bound to be places that are better or worse than us. You chose to compare SG to a place that is worse than us, others choose to compare SG to a place that is better than us. Who is right in this case? Is there even a need to say that someone's opinion is absolutely right or wrong?

One can say that someone who chooses to compare SG to a place better off than us and then complaining about it is being very negative. However, another way of looking at it is to consider that we should always strive to be the best. As to whether SG is the 4th most desirable place to live and work, I cannot say. But I don't care what position it is, if I'm comfortable with my life.
