Hello photography lovers, im stucked in the spot to make a new buy.
Im actually a 600D user (18-55, 50mm lens) considered a good with photo taking, yet bad with equipments.
Currently, ive been looking for a smaller compact camera, tentatively epl-1, epl-3 or even ep3. Please guide me on this. This 2nd buy is actually for my convenience, yknow sometimes DSLR is really like a bulky and brings lotsa of inconveniences, im looking for something to be more convenient yet good at the same time.

PS: I really love canon powershot s95 what do you think?

Please comment and guide me along. Thank you so so much.:)

Since you really love the Canon powershot S95, then go with the S95, or a step up - go for the S100.

Another less hassle way is to look to the Canon G1X, which had a bigger sensor as compared to even the micro4/3 cameras (and smaller than the APS-C sensor). That camera had excellent noise control, take excellent photos and the such (but not exactly low price considering that it is basically still a point and shoot compact camera).

However for the versatility of a DSLR, the mirrorless is still your best bet. I have both the E-PL1 and OM-D, both are excellent cameras, the E-PL1 served me very very well, although focus is abit slow, but it take really clear, sharp pics. My newer OM-D is a dream come true in many instances... fast focus, sharp photos, 5-axis IS, weather seal, etc etc. As for you... well, do look into other mirrorless camera offering from Sony (NEX), Pentax (Q and K series), Nikon (1 series) and Panasonic (G, GH and GF series).

OM-D is the latest mirrorless by Olympus. Not exactly low cost though (got it - body only with a Panasonic 25mm f1.4 lens at S$2280 from John 3:16).

Anyway, the E-PL1 and S95 are two totally different camera. I like the E-PL1 alot, but I don't think you can get a first hand one nowadays. The S95 is a compact point and shoot. You can go for the S100 though which is a newer camera... or spent some money more on the latest Canon G1X which had the best image quality in current compact camera (not including the X100).

Actually I owned a LX-3, didn't find anything weird about it... I believe the LX-5 should function pretty similarly to the older LX-3. So what exactly do you find weird?

Hey:)
thats the exact point why i bought a LX-5! Because the LX3 is a great camera wasnt it? LX 5 has this very grainy and bright screen, the looks of the image and screen is totally OFF the right color. I brought it to Japan just last october, with the grainy annoying screen yet when i develop the images, the printed out images are vibrant and great looking. This is the part that it's weird!!

S95 and S100, reason why im looking only at S95 is because im afraid that S100 would somehow ruined the whole idea of S95 becasue it's better and newer. Just like LX 5 and LX 3 :(

Well... it might be because the LCD is of lower resolution (not sure), or was your set lemon? Have you bring it back to check? Whatever the case, you could test out the S95 and S100 in the shop first, aim them at somewhere darker, and you should be able to see a different in the LCD, then make your call.

For a smaller and more portable solution, you really need to decide if you want another interchangeable lens system, or just a simple point and shoot.

Once you made up your mind on which route to take, the rest will be quite easy to decide on.
