Hi all,

I would like to seek the advice of the experts here on this abovementioned topic. I know that tripod and ballhead has been a heavily discussed topic but i can't seems to find any review between these 2 ballhead Sirui and giottos.

I'm currently looking for a lightweight ballhead as i would like to use it for travelling. I have a Al tripod(Jusino AX255) for now, which i may upgrade at a later time. From my understanding, the advantage and disadvantage of both ballhead i have listed below(in general).

Giottos
+ A lot of camera mount(more variation if required but at a premium)
+ I can test in UK(one of the supplier has it)
- Heavier than sirui
- Not compatible to Arca Swiss type. (Mostly QR)

Sirui
+ Arca Swiss Compatible
+ Lighter than UK
+ More commonly used in SG
- Not easily available in UK (except via ebay)

Could the expert here recommend which ballhead i should go for? I know manfrotto or gitzo would be a good choice but they are way over my league. So still on the budget. Giottos is cheaper here but i think if i upgrade to arca swiss, it shld be almost the same. I think Sirui has 6 years international warranty but not so sure about giottos. Anyone has an idea how are giottos ballhead?

If you're looking for the specific ballhead, i'm thinking giottos MH1301-652C and for sirui K10x.

Thanks for your help. Sorry for the poor command of english.

If I am you, I will go for the Sirui without hesitation.

i am using a sirui k20x ball head and i can say its value for money :) it can hold a max load weight of 25kg which means you can mount any lens on top of it with reasonable stability... probly except for the bigma 200-500mm lens LOL!!!

Haha 25kg is only when the plate is leveled. I think most ballheads can super really heavy weights at that position. The weight limit could be less than half of that at a 45 degree tilt.

Max load claims vary... some manufacturers like to claim to the extreme... 10kg will be the ultimate max I will place on a k20x.

Actually manfrotto or gitzo ballheads are not particularly good and nor are they way over your league. Over your league would perhaps be Really Right Stuff, Novoflex or even Arca-Swiss. A Sirui should be good enough. Alternatives are Markins, Kangrinpoche, Benro, Kirk, Arcatech, ...

thnx all.
