Been kind hearted, i allow a family to stay my hse for a wk as they are from msia. Electric bills sure shoot up, expected. Noise level also up n home electronic sure in a mess as got kid. Nvm that all, was perpare for it.

Got SH bill for my cable tv. I hardly bother but i just read it this time. Why so much? I thought maybe they change plan n charge advance. Then i read again. What!? A demand channel added? The date, was they move in. I call SH, as usual, on hold n no pick up. I went online, that channel box was ticked. I removed it asap. For nothing, i got to pay extra n i dont even charge that family a single cent.

So, if u got other ppl staying your hse, better reads ur bills carefully. You never knows what they "activated" for you.

usually landlord dont share TV, phone or internet with tenant . if they need it, ask them to subscribe it under their own name, not yours.

at least they only ticked one channel. Can't imagine how you react if your SH bill was sky high and you realize that all the channel boxes are ticked... :bsmilie::bsmilie:

they might not have realized that there was a charge involved and innocently clicked on the demand channel

The person who requested is just a friend. Pity them no place to stay n let them stays. I even let my master bedroom for them n they on air con as if they are landlord n i am tenant without aircon. My hse seem like their n all things been used, except my pc, ha ha!

Heng no tick all else i also got to pay a bit b4 void all. Just want to rant, they go back liao n no 2nd time for them. Save my kindness for other ppl better.

I have at least 2 separate friends who told me that this is what to expect from MLY Chinese.
Of course, there are very rich and well off MLY Chinese.
Those who are not well off, tend to have a very high opinion of Singaporeans i.e. they feel we do not mind being ripped off at all.

In one case, the Singaporean visited a MLY family (might be distant relative) in MLY and they went shopping.
At the check out at the supermarket, the MLY family bought lots of stuff and refused to pay a cent, expecting the Singaporean visitor to pay for all their purchases.
This kind of attitude is probably the result of Singaporeans shopping and eating in JB and shouting (crudely and rudely) "Cheap, Cheap".

In your case, it could be that this is what they expect a host (you) to do for guests. That is, if roles are reversed and you were visiting them in MLY - they would do exactly the same for you - for example, you can invoke pay on demand Astro TV channels in their home, drive their MLY car around and wait for them to top up petrol, go out shopping in MLY hypermart and they would pay for all your purchases. If that is so, let us know.

Impossible that I will get VIP treatment cause if they are rich enough, they wouldn't bother to stays my hse. Furthermore, I dont like to depend on other so much. Only when I really needed it. A lot of my friend n family member ask me dont let them stay. I tell them "Let them stay, then next time got excuse to reject" :bsmilie:

lol also noted the same thing.

Good and bad people always exist in any places concurrently, cannot say people from this country mostly bad, that country mostly good, they follow normal distribution one, the bell curve thing they teach in schools. So depend on your luck which type you will meet. Always be kind to others, you will be rewarded sooner or later, or maybe after life... Someone is always watching.

This is a classic example of.. Never be too nice to anyone. If not at least..be prepare for the worst.

Good thing I checked my bill last week. The electricity company claimed that they couldn't access my meter and estimated my monthly power usage to be almost $700 instead of my historical usual Max of $40!

The moral of the story is......it doesn't pay for being kind......thats is what happening in our day to day life, not only at home but in office too....i have too many of that untill no mood to spell out :(

Oh dear, still smoking that weed?

Amongst a category of these people, they live by a certain rule. The rule is: They do not call you. They will sit and wait. You must call them. Why?
Because in their weird universe, their modus is that whomsoever calls or initiates to invite others to a social outing - MUST PAY FOR EVERYTHING.
They are prepared to play the "mah chai" a.k.a. sidekick role. This behavior of such people has been observed by others as well.

Sorry to add 1 more thing. She asked me (I know her sis, daughter, mum staying so far) " Can my brother come over to stay as tmrw we going to USS" Can I say no??? Nvm lor, let him stays. In the end, he no wear shirt, sleeps on my sofa as if it was his house! I am stun but I keep quiet. On top of that, he brought tools to my house, I really wondering, am I the owner or not? So, in the future, get ready to get bully if you are kind to other. Cause they sure take things for granted. As for my bills, even not much, but I feels like goondu. Ask her pay also.... Once enough, no more 2nd time else my blood veins bursted, haha!
