I planning to upgrade my DSLR, Sony A77 or Canon 7D is better?

you're gonna attract many Fanboys from both camps to attack one another.

there are pros and cons to every system.

but i would say, looking at the comparisons online won't do any of the cameras justice. you should head down to the shops to do a hands-on comparison to see which camera you like best in terms of handling, feel and ergonomics.

don't go to John 3:16 though. from my personal experience and others can vouch for it too, they'll switch your mind off any brand faster than you can snap your fingers and you'll buy a Canon.

Never listen to sales people......

You'll realize they don't even stock Sony...

Keiko-chan is right. There are big differences between these 2, from EVF vs OVF to FPS, fast AF in liveview and video, to built-in IS vs lens-based IS, etc etc.

You need to give the cameras a try, see which feels better for you and which has the featureset you want.

Buy 7D ....

What DSLR are you using now? I suggest going for the same brand for the upgrade.

Canon 7D vs Sony SLT A77

Don't make your decision entirely based on this...

LOL half the "Reasons to buy" for the 7D should be in the A77 list too, such as:

Weather sealed
Shoot in extreme weather

Shutter lag
Barely any delay taking photos
131 ms shutter lag (Sony is 0.20, even faster)

Viewfinder coverage
Great viewfinder coverage
100%

First you need to know what you exactly want.
Different brand have different pro n cons. Too many to be listed. You can do your own research.

For eg. If you love IS like me... Its better you go for Brands that have IS built in body. eg. Sony. (Because if you were to buy lens with IS for Canon or Nikon..It gonna cost you ALOT even more if you going to purchase several lenses)

:bsmilie: John 3:16 tried to sell me a Nex 7 when I asked if it was good anot leh!

Bizarre how they're ok with NEX but nothing else Sony. :p

It depends.. many times the salesperson will try to sell product that gives them the most/more commission. Even if they know there are products that are better/more value for money. Come on..who dosen't want to earn more money.

Worth the upgrade from a 60D to 7D?

TS read the thread above it is similar to your request.I like to add further by saying, are you not confident and rational enough to make comparision of the two cameras you have shortlisted? Or is it a pyshological attitude that are you afraid to make a wrong choice and thus experience failure? Something that most of us normal people experience as life. :)

If you have used logical reasoning and objectivity chances are you will come to correct conclusion or outcome. It is common sense
mostly but I understand that if a person is confused in the decision making process one's point of reference may be off course that
it will most like end in a wrong decision. The mind is complex, yours as well as others.Different genetics and environmental experiences.

You know what you want or at least I think you do.I trust and know you can choose for yourself.Others have given you "hints and pointers".All the best.
