DIY camera strap

I am trying to DIY a camera and stuck in a block on this part on getting a grommet on to a nylon strap.
any of you people come across a shop that does similiar work ? if yes pls share the shop name and address.

u really want to hang a camera by a plastic hook? think 2x and then think again!

Also I dont think the hook on one side of the camera is designed to hold the weight of the body. given that when slung across it will prob sing around and that creates more downforce on the camera body.

not to mention how uncomfrotable that strap looks.

I' ve tried a few straps and one thing I can assure u ..what u pay is what u get. Try looking at the OP tech straps ( less than 40 bucks) or the R Straps ( 100 bucks)

just a point for those of us on a budget please stay away frm cheaping out on grip equipment ie anything to support your thousands of dollars of photographic equipment

I don't get the point of having large metal hook when the one that holds it together is made out of plastic. i'd say this design is ridiculous and un-safe.

Just to share some other ideas. The items used here can be replaced with alternative of your liking and what you readily have at home.

I DIY mine as the original R strap can't allow it to be fitted on arca-siwss plate and remain there while I use it on the tripod.
Note: I use the crumpler strap as it curves fits nicely over my chest.

D-ring remained on plate and strap detached for tripod use

Many variations can be thought of and depends on your usage, you can design one that suits you.

Personally I rather buy a proper camera strap. Not cos I am rich or what but those straps you find out there have underwent stress and load test, so definitely safe to use.

I don't know about your DIY camera strap... it might just give way on you someday and there goes your expensive equipments!

Unless you have a strong reason to DIY (e.g. aesthetics count more for you), camera straps are not that expensive, e.g. Op-tech.

Would suggest to not save on the money in this case.

yes the idea of a flimpsy set diy set up vs thousand dollars equipment is nagging around me for so long .

sinned79 mentioned correctly do be careful if any of you are trying any methods. FYI I tested mine using 10kg load for over a week, before I use this it.

Sniper Strap are the ones I think is of better built.

heehee...i made a similar design like urs 1 year ago...using Crumpler neck part too.

Cheers, ya the crumpler just fits me better not too thick unlike the BR. Also I use this curve method before they came out with the curved strap.
