I'm just seeking some advice here. I would like to find out what the different lens terminology mean like cause I've been looking through Nikon's product line and I am absolutely clueless as to the different shortforms and terms... VR, AF-S DX FX etc stuff like that so would anyone be kind enough to enlighten me :)

Google.com

Google: "Nikon Lens Terminology"

Precisely what you asked for.

First link from kenrockwell.

The acronyms are also explained in the Nikon lens catalogue. You may pick up a company from your preferred camera equipment store or download it.

Please note that some sigma lenses without the HSM also has a motor. HSM does not signify that a lens has a motor but rather that the lens has a type of motor called hypersonic motor
