Ballhead + L bracket recommendations

Thanks in advance, but I was thinking of buying the Gitzo GT3541LS CF Legs and needed ballhead and L bracket recommendations. (and/or anything else u think I might need) Shooting with D300, but waiting impatiently for the D800. Considering the Q20 (not sure lever or knob - someone please advice on pros and cons) Arca Swiss. Going to put on company expense (not really related to photography), so budget should be flexi. Do i need a stabilisation plate as well?(or is that too Kiasu)

What are you intending to shoot?
pros of lever quick-release: fast, convenient
cons: if you have > 1 QR plate (eg. 2 cameras), one setting for the lever may not grip both plates with equal force.

Thanks for the advice guys. But they just announced the D800E, so now no money to buy tripod/ballhead, etc. Have to save for D800E.

If you are going for a Gitzo Traveller like 1541T a Markins Q3T is probably the best choice. The BH-55 will go well on a Gitzo series 3. Some say it is too big for a Series 2 but some say it is fine. BH-55 is considered one of the ultimate ballhead while Markins used to be a cheap substitute for Arca-Swiss ballheads. Now there are even cheaper ones.

Actually both are excellent. If you don't mind buying from US and waiting then buy RRS, otherwise the Markins is good enough.
