It's not cheap so I got a cheaper Sony messenger bag instead slightly bigger than my NIKON bag

Yup, take ken rockwell's reviews with a large pinch of salt. Sometimes he say things that don't make sense and will mislead the readers

I download some of his picture control setting looks ok normally I get some knowledge on how to take Gd picture other than his review ..

bro, can you post a pic of how the grip looks like on and off the camera? thxs.

Cannot look at snapsort for score.. They seems biased towards nikon cameras. How can a d7000 cf win 5Dmkii ff. But i guess it is a good web for comparison of features ignoring the scores.

Haha... They seemed to have adjusted the weightage and scoring calculations.

Just shoot with the kit lens. It's wide enough for landscape and narrow enough for portrait.

+1 for coweye. Work with the kit lens first then after probably getting the hang of your DSLR you can check the exif of your pictures to see what focal lengths you use most. Then from there you can find out you need to go wider or telephoto.

If die die want to have a second lens you can consider... 35mm f1.8 DX(general photography), 50mm f1.8(portrait) or 55-200mm DX(telephoto/ portrait). These are reasonablely priced at around 300 and provide a good foundation for learning of photography.

Or just get 2nd hand 18-200mm lol

If I were u, I will get a d5100 body, with 18-105 for day and 50mm for night

18-105 is very useful focal length but i don't think Singapore got sell such kit package and cannot buy body only. Btw take note of the crop factor. When selecting lens, remember to multiply by 1.5x to get full frame equivalent.

Yeah so i actually bought from jb end of last year cos can customize. Body S$818 and 35 f1.8 S$318. Later I got the 18-105 which is the one I use the most

If you can find the shop that sells D5100 body only, they will gladly package the 18-105mm for you. There was during the initial launch. Not so sure now...
