Is TS-E 24 II suitable for group photos?

edges getting stretched is caused by WA, not a matter of tilt shifting.

You seemed to be confused about what TS-E lenses can do. They are used to correct keystone effect which is totally different from wide angle distortions. Stretched edges are distortions inherent in wide angle lenses, including the wider TS-E lenses and they cannot be corrected. They can however, be minimised with careful framing.

ok, thanks. Took some group photos and found 35mm no longer usable for the size of the group and the distance indoor. Have to resort to 24mm which causes wide angle stretching for the people on both sides. I guess I need a bigger house

From my experience, only solution is to take a longer lens (maybe 50) and move further back. That's the only way to take group picture without WA distortions. Another way is to use a WA and correct the distortion during post processing.

I really love taking group photos with my 50mm. It trains me to manage my anger better and channel it to better uses. :bsmilie:

either he got fed up with constantly moving backwards to get a wider coverage, or he got impatient asking the crowd to squeeze into the 50mm FOV :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

If that's the case, I sincerely suggest that you work with 500mm for group photos, I'm sure it will be 10times more effective. :bsmilie:
