Question, is the MBS shooting out laser when you are taking the picture. Next, it could be lens flare due to the bright flood light.

MBS is not shooting laser at that moment. I did take a few long exposure shots in 1 of the singapore highway and also experience same thing.

it's lens flare.

oh. how to deal with flare?

Looks like flare.

Strong light source just off the frame (and even within the frame), from the floodlights.
MAYBE you had UV filter attached? Even without the UV filter, if the light source is really strong, still possible to get lens flare.

1) remove the filter if you're using any

2) read this

and like what ZCA said, it might be hard to get rid of flare even if the filter's off. it just reduces it, not eliminates. just PP away the flare and you should be all set. sometimes, it's inevitable, because of the way the lights are all pointed at you just like at the MB Seating Gallery

Yes, uv filter on. Also try taking long exposure on highway same result.

Ok. Thank you! Gong xi fa cai. Huat ar!

Remove the filter. You are having internal reflections off the filter.

It's better to shoot without filter for night shooting. and Is or Vr off

ok. this is the part where i fear the most. because taking off the filter, the higher chance of scratches i will have for my lens..

Don't worry, your lens' front element is make of glass and is very hard. I have been shooting without filters for a long time before getting some cheapo filters, no problem at all... And recently I just throw away all my cheapo filters because it kind of leak 'oil'... and so it is back to no filter at all.

I would think a lens hood is more useful if you are really afraid of bumps and knocks. If you do not have one, you can easily buy one from ebay and many of them don't even cost S$10...

when using filters during night scene like this will cause ghosting, but without filter does not guarantee will elimate it totally, some lenses will have better flare control but some lenses don't.

lens hood is for shielding stray light entering the lens, and it is unless when you are aiming at strong light source.

last resort, photoshop.

Don't worry so much. Lens elements are tough, and also have strong coatings.

and honestly, what good is buying stuff if you are so afraid of damage that you won't use it properly? Might as well just sell everything and live in a bubble.

Your gear is meant to be used. Use it. Don't be so afraid.

its probably caused by the filter like what the others have said
dun worry about removing your filter
i shoot without filters for all my lens all the time
They're tougher than they look!
