Lowepro Flipside 200 for Travelling

I am travelling to China (Shanghai/Suzhou) and Hong Kong soon. Do you think lowepro flipside 200 would be suitable for my usage?
What I intend to bring:
Nikon D5100
Lens (Nikon 18-55mm F3.8-5.6, 35mm F1.8 DX, Sigma 10-20 F4-5.6) with hoods on. Don't think need telephoto since most on are scenery or street photography.
Small tripod
Charger and 1 spare battery
2-3x extra SD cards
Wireless shutter remote
Cleaning kit (Rocket blower, lens pen, microfiber cleaning cloth)
Other small miscellaneous stuff (handphone, pen, Ziplock bags etc.)

should be ok. Flipside 200 is quite big and adequate for your current gear.
Do you already own the bag or are intending to buy?
I couldn't quite get used to the rear-opening for the zip, though it provides added security against pickpockets I suppose.

I'm buying because the bag currently provided is no longer big enough to hold all my stuff. Besides i think it would be more convenient for me to change lens since i would have access to all lens at once. I just worried about implementation of the tripod holder since it looks like it protruded out a little... And when i swing it to the front it may hit me...

Ya I suppose so. Tripod is hard so try not to swing the bag quickly and allow the tripod to smack you

Should be good enough, but I really don't think you need to put your charger in your bag... Can leave at the place you're staying in.

Just a point to note, if you do not use backpacks/hybrid sling bags extensively, you might want to try it out before you go. I myself find that I much prefer the accessibility of a shoulder bag, hybrid or not, it is still very different. Of course, the compromise is the fact that it is not so nice to your back.

For tripods, since I often do extended exposures even during the daytime, I usually carry it by hand. Admittedly, there are times where the ability to strap the tripod onto the bag is a big plus, though few and far between for most people.

In situation where you have the bag infront of you (whether backpacking or preventing petty crimes), and with the waist clip fastened. You can open the bag and change your lenses on the move. I too find it a hassle to put the bag down each time you need to swap lens. Then sometimes you encountered situation where the ground is dirty, so I deploy using the method above.

can try getting a fastpack 200? $93 at CP. Cant hold tripod, but u can buy a velcro bookstrap from popular and can hold a tripod securely. Side access to your gear is useful too!

Flipside 200 has much greater capacity for camera gear though. Fastpack is a bit 50:50, though upper compartment can be used for the accessories like flash, filters, charger, etc.

Did consider that since fastpack seems like more value for money in terms of being more spacious with accommodating all the miscellaneous stuff and speed of access to camera. But in the end I went with the flipside cause it allows me to access to all my lens at once whereas fastpack/slingshot allows only side access to the single lens attached to body. It also supposedly provides more sense of security when I'm carrying my stuff though pickpocket-prone places.

Good choice, remember to buy a rain cover for your bag and a strap to sling your tripod without getting hurt

it should fulfill your needs, but i reckon you might wish to consider the flipside 300 instead. i have the 200 and it's quite restrictive at times, especially when i have a battery grip on my camera. try before you buy.

with TS's current setup, the 200 should be just nice. i have the 200 and can fit my d90+grip+18-200 attached, a 50 f1.8, sb900, misc items at the top and side compartments.

I guess once battery grip comes into the picture, the height of the bag becomes the restricting parameter, not so much the capacity
But since you can fit D90 + grip no issue, and TS has D5100 (no mention of grip), should be plenty

There is still some space left that would probably fit in a nikon 55-200 and sb 400. If I flip the orientation, I may also be able to fit a battery grip but would be a tight fit.

for the flipside 200, dun worry bout the tripod hitting you, but worry bout it hitting ppl around you when you turn around... as the tripod would in fact lean away from you... i accidentally hit a man in a crowded train when i entered the train door and turned around to face the door :embrass:

Your camera looks awkwardly-placed in the bag, though probably easier to remove with the grip area facing out
