Hi guys

I would like to know whether are there shops in SG offering rentals for monitor calibration devices? Would like to get my hands on a Spyder2Pro or Spyder3Pro device to calibrate my laptop's lcd screen but don't have the moolah now to afford one.

Thanks for helping!

you need to do the calibration regularly, at least on monthly basis, so for long term usage, it is wise to have your own.

See whether you can share with friends. Even for non-photographic usage the screen just looks much better when calibrated. The standard settings (regardless which and how they are named) are just awful.

Thanks guys for the feedback. But are there really no shops in SG offering this kind of service? just wondering since other countries have though.

It would only make sense for notebooks to see such shops. PC / Monitor systems needs to be calibrated together in order capture the characteristics of the entire system (including video card, drivers, cables). And if you have more than one screen then each one needs to be calibrated, separately. Do you want to lug around your setup once per quarter? :)

Point noted. Though for me its just for my laptop. Oh well, guess i just have to save up for one in the meantime though.

Is there a specific reason why you want your notebook calibrated? For printing out your photos for example or something?

Yeah, i wanted the colours of my photos to appear uniform across different monitors when i posted them online. Didn't realise it was such a big difference until i saw them on a calibrated monitor compared to an uncalibrated one. and later on when i do have to print my photos out:D
