Can I just store my folded 34cm tripod in the tripod bag & put into my carry in cabin bag?
Or must be keep into luggage and check in?
Am taking Air Asia to KUL next week.
Thanks.

the last time i took a a flight i am able to carry on my tripod... most airlines are pretty lax with their policies. however it will be best if you can call up the company and check with their policy... if all else fails, just check in loh? you wont be setting up your tripod on the plane anyway...

It is not really the airline that restricts, but the airport. Singapore airport is ok and so is most of China. Vietnam and Taiwan will require you check in all tripods.

Air Asia is ok from T1. Just make sure you don't take too much hand carry. Don't exceed 7 kg total.
I used to put it in my backpack and carry it on board, without the tripod bag.

Check-in to be safe. Even if you call the company and they say it should be ok... the customs officer can be anal and tell you that your tripod is a dangerous weapon. --.--" It all depends on luck.

If you do decide to bring it in, make sure it looks small and light. Best if you can stuff it in your backpack.
