Just back from wedding work, Sick of ppl calling photographer ... Hey, hello, xiaoti, ah boy, oih, who er who er, when they need you for photo shoot during wedding.

Why cant they call you nice name Like .. Mr photographer .....?

perhaps wearing a photographer's vest might help :)

hi ts

not sure if u r aware of an inccident that happens 1 or 2 years back. during an event, one man spoke using the microphone telling children to study hard so that they won't end up like the event pg who r there to document the event..

i think somehow there is still this thinking that pg is a lower class job.. partly bcos alot of artist cannot earn high income maybe.. but i think it is getting better now..

If i am the photographer there, i will just delete all the photos and walk off, but first i would give him a hard scolding.

Wear jersey with your name behind.

I guess these names are from the aunties and uncles? Well IMHO, they sound ok even though I'm not a photographer. Have alot of them calling me like that. Different era of people, so just laugh it off and move on to something more important.. Like capturing the moment. ;)

This group of people are just plain ignorant. My wedding photographer lives in a bloody big house and drives a branded car!!

now artists who know that they should balance both the business aspect and their artistic vision. they do earn pretty well, easily bagging a lot if they do corporate works.

We shoot for passion and bring moments for the clients. Why? Because we are Professional wedding photographers. Keep passion on bro..

charge 2k and above, dress smart casual/or slightly better in a wedding, nobody will call you cameraman.

or you can smile and tell them nicely, "Sir/Mdm, you can call me [your name] is fine."
once you address people as Sir/Mdm, usually they will address you with a Mr or a proper title.

i agree with you. =)

I normally distribute my name cards with titles of:
DC
D.O.
DDS
DMD
O.D.
DPT
DPM
DVM
behind my name.

Most of the guests become polite to me.

I also make sure I have a monopod held threateningly and ready to strike. No guest dare to mess with me. :bsmilie:

what to do... unless you taking for high class people..then maybe they call you by name. If not what you expect..most of the times the typical uncle and auntie are rude..n since they are paying you..they order you around.

What to do..it feels bad..but just take it with a pinch of salt..

it's common. no matter how nicely dressed... there're bound to be uncles and aunties calling you that.

it's better to be called any of those than "uncle" right?

And then you get a bad name for not being able to deliver photos.

Have more self confidence, people can say what they want about your job but hey, it's a job. What matters is that you answer to yourself and take pride in your work.

Ya .. i am pro alright, and do my job professionally, but deep down inside u get piss off once in a while when u meet rude ppl, i mean especially rude type.

Just the reason why i start this thread yesterday night when i finish my work, cos i meet 1 again .. let it out at the forum ..

Outside ClubSnap you can't avoid rude people.

They don't owe it to us to be nice and friendly like fellow CSers.

If cannot tahan dealing with them, change the type of job.

There are some types of photography require lesser interaction with people.

It is important that you should be able to earn some money and at the same time be happy.

Good luck!
