your 50/1.8 should be a good start for portrait photography.
The term 'portrait photography' is a bit vague though. You need to think about what kind of shots you're after most of the time. Full-body, half-body, head and shoulders, etc...?
There isn't a "food photography" lens or a "portrait photography" lens per se. You think about what kind of shot you want and get the appropriate lens for the job.

Food? Maybe u can try marco lens since the MFD is near.. anyway.. your current gear is already more than enough..
You can start with your 50 1.8 for both food and portraits..
IMO, it's a little tight on crop for food though..

if you are really really looking for best lenses, there are couple of choices,
tilt and shift lenses, macro lenses are the favorite of food photographers.
85f1.2, 135f2, 200f2 are the favorite of portrait /fashion photographers
alternatively, you can use what lenses you have now to shoot food and portrait, they are capable do a decent job in the right hands.

just had my breakfast, and I'm hungry again hehehe
1000% agree with u. nvr really know why ts lens are important until i started shooting food. in fact, for normal dishes, macro is not that important compared to ts lens i feel.
