Hey i went to place near to batam. This shopping mall takes about 20 mins after lighting from batam ferry terminal. I found some shops selling a very low price for Nikon d7000. Its a shop in a shopping centre so should be a authorised shop. His selling for $700 body only after conversion to SGD. I did not hand held the camera as i was just surveying. Do you guys think that this type of shops can be trusted? Normal singapore price now the cheapest i can find is $1540 body only. Its so much different. What do you guys think? Have u guys acounted this shopping mall?

Btw im nt sure about the shopping mall name and the shop name. Sorry.

I wonder how you conclude it's an authorized shop just because it is in the shopping centre ?
Local set comes with local warranty in Singapore. If you will to buy from batam, it's considered parallel import (done yourself), are you going to go back to the shop if something spoilt after awhile ?

S$700 sounds too cheap to be true. That's half price...

wow.... I'm taking the next ferry to Batam JUST to buy this camera ...... NOT...

how much was it in Rupiah ? you might have converted the currency wrongly

It could be a scam.

From my experience in Indonesia, camera stuff are not cheap. Even prices from the authorized showrooms are higher than SG showrooms. So how can their shops be cheaper than ours ?

The cost around 7-8 million rupiah equivilant to about SGD700++

looks too good to be true.. could it be a 2nd hand shop? or did u convert the currency wrongly?
anyway.. buyers beware. good luck in your shopping.

Man thanks for the advice i guess ill just keep my money then. Better be safe then sorry

Inside the box, you will see a camera with D7000 label... except that 2 of the zeros are stick on with masking tape.

The camera inside, the brand is "Nik-con" :D

If it is too good to be true, it probably is.

There are loads of tactics to cheat your money, e.g. sell you the D7K, but missing a whole load of things... Half price seems wrong, I have a feeling they will try to sell you accessories at super prices (e.g. WA converter at $1000), and if you don't bite, they will be mysteriously out of stock. :bsmilie:

No need to be mysterious. Nagoya is 20 minutes from the ferry. No one will rush there before you to buy this thing. Indonesian scammers can be violent. They don't hesitate to slash you with a knife if you don't pay up - after you foolishly AGREE to buy and somehow after that, they interpret the price differently from you. It will be much higher.

Unless you got a batam friend with you to nego the price from the shop.If not,you can forget to purchase anything from the shop in batam.

I guess soo haha. Kinda scared when the guy say it was 700+ is a very attractive price to hear . But it strikes me that even nikon stores selling 1.5-1.6k. How come they can sell cheap. Hahah :) thnx for all advice!
