NR: 70-200 f4 finally!

will buy this lens if the weight and price are within my expectation :)

I will still go for f2.8 version ... specially you need to zoom, low light, fast shutter speed....

Cannot deny that the 70-200/4 will be a hot seller when it hits the market.

Hope the price for this lens won't hit $2xxx

Ah, just how many years have I been waiting for Nikon to release their own 70-200 f/4 ? Way to go! :bsmilie:

let's see if nikon's can match canon's in terms of IQ sharpness, build quality and price.

finally, its time for the Nikon section to have threads like which 70200 to buy :bsmilie::bsmilie:, though still an easier choice than the canon camp

expecting half the price of the 70200 VRII?

I'll still stick with my 70200 VR 1 though

Why follow Canon ? As Canon already had this for long time ago.

Nikon should be more creative. For example, AFS 135 f/1.8 VR or AFS 180 f/2.8 VR, which Canon doesn't have at this moment.

would love to see a 135 f1.8!
I guess canon's f4 IS MK2 might come soon? lol

well, the recent poll shows equal interest with 70-200 f2.8 so nikon must act since market is there.

At f4, i hope it's sharp wide open.

Probably DX. Price I guess will be around $1,400.

they already have a DX lens in 55-200. This one will be FX to compete with Canon's f/4 line. 16-35 was their first step

and having a patent doesn't mean they'll act upon it. Will probably be a year or two down the road if it materializes.

My thinking too, nikon-DX has 12-24 f4G, so new 70-200 f4G ..... DX trinity set

And you seriously think the Nikon 12-24 is that great a lens to make it as a trinity? hmmmmm
