If we have to move into a First World country we should learn be a cashless society. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

not true, many merchants are now moving backward.. many dont even have NETs. Many TowKay all wants cash transaction only..

just like, photographer going back to Film SLR, Audiophile going back to Vinyl, human being going back to dinosaur era

I don't know. The more advanced the society, the less clothes they wanna wear...

Thanks, yup have been very busy with my own work commitment and also less involved into photography, but do at times engage services with an old time event company.
Haven't seen you in CS for a long while, wb :)
Take a lot of cab rides because of work and it's mere probability that I do encounter less than desirable drivers
I've been pissed and have called to give my forceful pov, but like the above, I usually regain some sense when I ask myself what do I really hope to achieve by lambasting the poor call-line person
And those conversations usually end up with me reminding them to place this as an infraction and hope that they educate said driver (and all their drivers); I would like to believe that as a business, they too wouldn't want to keep bad hats which consistently score disciplinary points

Would like to disagree that 'if complain must go all the way up because there's always some secret conspiracy to cover up and tai chi the problem away'
I think we simply place a lot of self-righteousness in ourselves to speak for the other downtrodden and taken advantage of, to right the wrongs in the world
Am guilty of that at times lol

I don't have any idea in mind yet. I don't feel I need to make someone out of work. Lets just say I'm putting an open-mind to see if the cab company will even bother to feedback to me on what actions are taken. Should the cab driver lie to the cab company that doesn't coincide with what I experienced though out the journey, I'm prepared to make it harder for him. If he admit his bad behavior, I'm ready to just let it go, and let the cab company decide the appropriate actions required. If the cab company don't even get back to me after awhile like within a month, I will call up the company and then immediately whack it up to LTA.

I'm curious... what would you say is a satisfactory explanation?

seriously, i always check i have enough cash before i cab. best is small change, less troublesome too.

The cab driver is also making a living.. time is money.

just live on...

You can now leave without paying the taxi driver even when you're brought into a police station.

I hope you will understand from the taxi driver point of view and about you leaving your bag in the taxi.

Taxi drivers hard life. Thats why when this kinda situation happen they stereotype you as one of those who wanna play punk. Some taxi drivers are lousy in communication and handling situation so they go into defensive mode and scold people.

In the past my opinion is that aiyah take cab because I want fast, so any taxi company also can. But nowadays I find myself taking only the blue color ones, not a plug to them but I think they have better training and company rules to follow.

I am not interested in paying the same money and then get taxi drivers who donno the route, or who want to insist on their route when I know better route, whose cab smell heavily of cigarettes, who fart and belch in the car, who talk **** when I *****ing want to rest, who drive like hooligan and speed race with other car he not happy with, risking my life.

Taxi is not easy, 2359H cab company will deduct without fail everyday from ur bank account, another blood sucker devil job other that the garman ..

Seriously, I always ensure I have enough cash to take a cab. I do not wish to transfer my own problem to another.

actually it's pretty simple...

if you wanna pay by any card, Comfort/City Cab. SMRT Cabs only accepts EZ-link and SMRT credit/debit cards. the rest are all a mix and match and i certainly won't take those others unless i don't have a choice :D

TS from what I see, you just have a very bad day!

The cab driver might be in bad mood also, and you are the lucky guy :)

In 3 days you will forget this, looking back again you will say : "Man! why did I go down to his LEVEL"

if i were u, i will just dump the RM$50 (S$20.47) at him and call it a day.. anyway the cab fare is almost S$13

who cares what is in your bag, or your heirloom.. he only want his hard-earn $12.90

frankly speaking, you are spoiling the taxi driver's day. not the other way round..

u know the time he wasted to look for OCBC ... UOB... DBS.... atm, he could have picked another customer with boarding rate of S$3 or more... at peak hour..

btw, u board the taxi without any means of cash payment is wrong. should be doing some soul-searching instead

The taxi company has a duty to meet the payment modes offered, and I've had many encounters with drivers who insist on otherwise.

Throw in ATM failures et al, and you will have instances where passengers do not have enough cash on hand.

But it is a nice gesture to always ask if the cabbie if your preferred mode of payment is offered by him.

TS, I was agreed with you that the attitude from the cab driver was bad in the first place. But as I reads on, it's seem like you are having a bad habit of not checking whether you got enough $ inside your wallet before you boards a cab. If you keeps this habit, I think you will post again soon.

I ever encounter, I call for a cab, cab arrive, it's taken by someone else. I make a call to that company. You know what reply I got? Just a "Call/book again lor"

Another incident. I coming back from Ikea (Alexandar) to Bt Batok. I still un aware of the expressway last time. When we board, he ask me, go by PIE? I say ok and ended up paying a lot more. Cause we can go straight down to AYE liao!

TS, every one is making a living. Like some said, he might be in a bad mood and also, their living is hard. Let them be, there are still a lot of good drivers out there. But one thing for sure, kick your bad habit, it's not good for many things. ;p

Hmmm

So far none really nasty ones that I've really experienced.
Even in the dead of the night, if the taxi driver doesnt accept nets/CC, they are fine with me going to the ATM near my place.

I think the only one that really made me s h i t in my pants was quite a few years back. Massive jams on the ECP on the way home.

I had the taxi driver from hell driving at 80-90kmph on the road shoulder from Rocher all the way to I think bayshore.....

Were you sober then? :p

I had one bad experience with a taxi driver once, also had poor attitude.
One night I flagged a cab to pick up a friend for supper. Upon getting into the cab I told the driver I wanted to go to Simei, then as the driver entered into the PIE I again told him when we reach Simei to just wait a while for my friend to arrive.
Now here's the strange part, when he heard me say have to wait he shot back at me say 'Oh I cannot wait' in Mandarin. So I asked him why cannot wait 'Your meter will still be running'. His reply 'I just cannot wait lor'.
The second reply from him really infuriated me, which taxi law states that drivers cannot wait for customers? What's more I told him to keep the meter running while waiting so I'm not short-changing him.
So I looked for the license plate and name of the driver and wrote it down in my iPhone. By now the driver probably knows I took his details down for a complaint and changed his tone. But too late, the next day I wrote an email to the taxi company and described the whole incident and state the time, place, name and license plate of the driver involved.
The taxi company replied me quite promptly and informed me that the driver's behaviour is not acceptable and will look into the matter.
My intention is not to get the driver sacked, but as a paying customer I think I am entitled to the basic polite service from any staff. I don't think I'm asking for the sun and moon, just that to be insulted for such a trivial issue, no way am I going to pay to be insulted.

So TS I support your decision to lodge a complaint!
