When we were enjoying our RedRocks at some coffee shop in Chinatown, someone informed me that the Q is in stock at SLR R. I couldn't wait, took a taxi and reached the store just before it's closed.

Here is what I got back home:

Can't wait to open it up:

Man, this thing is really cute!

To be honest, it looks much beautiful than these photos:

Put the battery in even before it's charged, switched it on, the menu system is almost exactly the same as we've seen on K5/Kr:

The built quality is top notch!

I thought my GF1 was pretty smal, but compared w/ this little Q, it looks like a monster!

The Q is much smaller in every dimension:

Okay, here are some handson experience w/ the camera so far:

1. It IS tiny! Yeah, just like some said above, you have to see it to feel how small it is.
2. The built quality is top notch. You won't be able to find another camera in similar size and built quality. It might not be a Leica, but I think Pentax really put a lot effort in making this thing.
3. It's small, but it feels very good in hand. Some might claim the camera is too small for a big hand. But for such a tiny camera, you don't need your whole hand to hold it. Just a couple of fingers will do.
4. It's very easy to operate, easier than you'd think for such a small camera. If you've used Pentax camera before, you probably don't even need to ready the manual. It's just like you are using a Pentax dSLR camera
5. AF is really fast for a small camera like this, I feel it's faster than my GF1+20/1.7 combo (which is considered to be pretty fast for an EVIL camera)
6. Focusing is spot on most time, even under complicate light condition
7. Photos produced by the camera and the kit lens is really really sharp, even wide open.
8. If shoot in RAW, the dynamic range is pretty good, pretty usable at ISO800 if you get the exposure right. If picture is under exposed, you still can push up the dark area, but definitely need some noise reduction work
9. White balance is pretty accurate, results look very natural even under very complicate light.
10. It is indeed a very fun camera to have and play with.

I was toying with the "demo" set at SLRR this afternoon.

I think it's too heavy for the trouser pocket. Anyway, let's see the performance!

WOW! I want one with all eight!

Photo quick, photo please!

cool!!!

wow. so cute. does it come with a retro looking case?

Cool...looks like you have a new toy again FW! What's the final market price? :)

Is this a new EVIL camera by pentax?

No. The EVIL model is not out yet although rumours suggested a release date by this year. Don't think they are in a rush as they want to maximise exposure mileage for this baby first.

I don't think so although I would have hoped they would learn to be like Olympus when it comes to accessories!

FW, thats fast.
After looking at the dummies at the outing today, I must say that both the black and white ones look real good.
Looking forward to see the sample photos. :)

It may well have a space in my pocket or running pouch to take it anywhere I want.

What's the price?
