I spent part of my childhood in the town of Pontian, Johor. While I have returned there many times since, I never did so with a photographic eye. I hope to do so this time, and I'm inviting fellow CSers to go with me.
Singapore has progressed tremendously infrastructure-wise in the last 30 years, but Pontian seems to have stood still in time and looks not much different than it did in the 1970s. I am hoping this day trip will allow us to capture some of that and contrast it with how some parts of Singapore look today.
Since I don't have private transportation, unless some kind soul is willing to drive us around, this trip will rely solely on public transportation (read: buses). Feel free to post questions on this thread. Below are the details:
When:
October 22, 2011 (Saturday).
Meet near Woodlands MRT Control Station at 7:00 AM (Don't worry, you can nap on the bus later )
Where:
Pontian, Johor.
What to bring:
Passport.
Malaysian Ringgit (change before actual day, bare minimum RM30, better RM50 or more).
CEPAS card for taking Singapore buses.
Camera body, plus 1-2 lenses. I recommend a light setup for this trip due to possible congestion at the customs and on the buses. I suggest leaving flashguns and tripods at home.
What to wear:
Light clothing. I suggest jeans or bermuda shorts, and comfortable shoes. Avoid skirts or slippers, and definitely no high-heels.
Sign up below and PM me your mobile phone number, thanks.
