Hehe, took me a few night to write this one. I have to say it's not easy to write a full product review. But hope it's useful to some of you guys if you are looking for a tripod for your Pentax gear ;p

4kg is more than enough for most people. But there are some bigger ones w/ higher load capacity. It's always a balance of load capacity and size-weight

can share the price? if cannot post here can pm me? hard to judge without knowing the price... if like 100plus then this is very good buy but if like 400plus will consider other tripods.

Very nice... the built-in monopod is a plus! Too bad tripod not due for upgrade yet...

I have used a Giottos before and it is one of my favourite tripods.

Unfortunately it is not so sea-friendly, after a lot of soaking and splashes both the ballhead and legs gave up the ghost and failed (legs got jammed, ballhead lock jammed, probably due to internal corrosion)...

And it is not so readily available in Singapore (until recently), so I made do with a wooden tripod and a Sirui..

Wooden is good but not cheap... And the structure is not enclosed so easier to clean , don't have to strip like telescopic legs.

i would think that carbon fibre tripods are generally more resistant to the elements?

beyond that, its just having good maintenance practices - washing the legs, getting rid of mud and sand, oiling or spraying WD40 into the switches / joints, letting it stand in the sun to dry out.

i drag mine out into the mud quite frequently. its well-used, but the switches are still quite smooth and its not falling apart yet (fingers crossed)

you know the feeling, when you thought your tripod is dry, and the next time you extend the legs, more water just leaks out. lol

Sorry I was out of SG for a couple of days. Didn't get chance to really check here until now.

The price for this tripod is around $375 depends on shops. I remember I saw it at SLRR ... Anyway, you can call Orient Photo and Alan Photo to find out...
