This year photo.vn is hosting Crossing Bridges 8 which will be held in the South east hills and coastal region of Vietnam
Crossing Bridges is an annual trip by forum members from the various photography forums around ASEAN. This trip has been an ongoing event since 2004 bringing photographers to Indonesia (twice), Cambodia, Hong Kong, Macau, Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam.
The purpose of Crossing Bridges is bridge-building and friendships between the various online Photography forums from around the region representing approximately 750,000 + registered photographers
Currently, participating nations include Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines
This year’s edition, the 8th, visits the south-east coastal and hill areas of Vietnam less explored by tourists.
Photographers from all 5 participating countries will fly in and gather in Ho Chi Min City on Thursday 10 November.
The next 5 days from 11 to 15 November photographers will be visiting and shooting in areas such as:

Long Hai
“Long Hai is a small fishing village in Ba Ria Province and located 30km north-east of Vung Tau. This fishing village is always crowded with fishermen, boats and a fish market with lots of interesting activities”
Long Son
Ancient Village…”Long Son Commune sits on Nua Mountain, located next to Ganh Rai Bay and to the south of Sac Forest. Nha Lon Long Son was created by a man nicknamed Tran, whose real name was Le Van Muu, a follower of An Giang-based Tu An Hieu Nghia religion. He come to the region and set up the house in the beginning of the 20th century”
Phan Thiet“Phan Thiet town is the capital city of Binh Thuan Province, Vietnam. Located on an arm of the South China Sea, Phan Thiet is one of Vietnam's most important fishing areas. Ho Chi Minh lived in Phan Thiet for a short time and taught at the Duc Thanh school. During the war, Phan Thiet was the site of the US military base known as Landing Zone Betty which was located at the now closed Airfield South West of the City
Bao Loc“Bao Loc is a town of Lam Dong Province in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam. Bao Loc is famous for its registered trademark: Bao Loc tea”
Tuyen Lam Lake
Tuyen Lam is a beautiful natural lake located on top of a mountain covered with pine trees. It is 6km east of Dalat City.
Suoi Vang Valley
Small streams, wild horses and home to the Koho tribe otherwise known as Da Lat’s Golden Valley or the Valley of Love
Trai Mat Hills
Terraced farms and close to the nearby ancient Champa Kingdom with thick pine forests. In town, there is an old Russian diesel steam locomotive
Lang Biang
Is a pleateau on the southern area of the Central Highland of Vietnam. Lang Biang Mountain commands a grand view of the Dalat area
Cau Dat
Known as the Earth Bridge is known for its steep streets, magical mist-shrouded valleys dotted with centuries old tea-plantations. Cau Dat produces ideal conditions for creating stunning and gorgeous landscape images
Da Lat
Home to the famous Vietnamese highland arabica coffee bean and Vietnam’s premier hill station city. It is a maze of little streets , churches, vegetable gardens and waterfalls all mixed together in offering freshness and pleasure to its visitors.
We depart from Ho Chi Min City for home on Wednesday 16 November ... if you wish to stay back and return later, that is OK and up to you.
Therefore the trip will be from 10 to 16 November
Those wishing to participate in this year’s Crossing Bridges will need to fulfill the following requirements:
1. Are existing members of Clubsnap for NO LESS than 3 months as of 1 July 2011 (registered with Clubsnap on 1 April 2011 or EARLIER)
2. Actively participating Clubsnappers who are 18 years old or older
3. Have a genuine interest in friend-making and have an easy-going demeanour
4. Physically fit and with a sense of humour
5. Able to do with little sleep (4-5hrs daily average) for a week
6. ABLE TO SHOWER WITHOUT HEATED WATER once or twice during the trip
7. NO girlfriends, wives, sons/daughters tagging along
8. OK with twin-sharing rooms through the trip
9. Able to make the ENTIRE trip (no half-way join or half-way need to go back participants)
10. Have a spirit of sharing experiences and again making friends with people from other countries
How Much is this trip going to cost ?
Crossing Bridges is a non-profit activity and lodging/transport/meals/logistics are on a cost-sharing basis.
US$500 for land package. You will have to book your plane ticket to and from Ho Chi Min City independently (I am suggesting one of the Budget airlines) ... as in previous years, we'll all likely end up on the same flight departing Singapore
You may choose to come back on a later date if you wish .....

Singapore has 15 slots (1 country leader + 14 Singaporean participants) and each year the slots get grabbed TOO FAST.
For 2011 registration is NOT first-come-first-served
Committed and Interested persons from Clubsnap are to send me a PM indicating interest and short-listed persons will be notified by PM or email.
I am trying to get a group made up of first-timers as well as repeat attendees
Once notified that you are successful, you will need to send in the $$$ in full within 3 days of notification to confirm your attendance (I will give you personal information required and banking instructions then).
Successful candidates will be informed on Friday 29 July
By 3 August persons who have not paid up will have their slots re-assigned to those on the wait-list

EVERY year, Crossing Bridges have been an EXTREMELY FUN YET SERIOUS event with critique and photo-sharing sessions amongst participants ....... we also get to share and learn about techniques and equiptment and sometimes how differently other people use the same accessory or equiptment that we have
I understand that there will be about 4 mornings of pre-dawn 3-4am move-out photo calls for sunrise shoots.
It will be a gruelling, almost Ranger-style week ...... many many MANY have walked away with lasting friendships and a few have gone on to successful full-time careers in photography (you know who you are) ....... 2 photographers have also gotten married as a result
