What i always believe is that once the deal has been done stop complaining as its no one's fault in the end. The seller could have genuinely (and it has happened more than once before) mix up the camera's shutter count with the number of shots taken on the memory card. If you want to be 100% sure get a laptop and test it on the spot. anyways 17k isn't a lot.. you buy such good cameras to use and thus should have confidence in its shutter ratings of up to 100k (if i'am not wrong for that particular model).
Also if you are unhappy with the mark when the seller described it as mint.. you could have just simply walked away and not deal. of course the battery issue can't be helped until you actually charge and use it. Anyways just enjoy your camera and take more photos =) no point brooding over such minor stuff. cheers!
