I dont know how the build in flash works. Here is the scenerio

I use spot meter to get the meter reading in the background (Assuming is 1/60s F5). The subject is under a tree with some light shade as tree is not very huge. I activate the build in flash in M setting. When I take the photo, does the build in flash fire at full power or is it iTTL controlled or does the build in flash fires enough light for aperture F5?

Pop up built in flash is also TTL.

As long you activate the flash in manual setting, your flash settings has override its TTL capability.

If you set manual flash setting, it depends on your aperture and the distance between your subject and lens.

Here is a good read up about Nikon flash system. http://nikonclspracticalguide.blogspot.com/

So TTL-BL cannot be selected with the camera dialed to M mode. TTL-BL is only activated in the P,S,A mode?
