Hi, im a noob in off-camera flash photography...i have just one question regarding my Nissin Di622 MK1 Speedlite.

Using this flash as off-camera flash, you have to pop up your camera flash (Canon 450D) for you to use it as off flash, i don't want to use the pop up flash and the slave at the same time. Thus, giving those one directional light from the side.

Is there any trigger available in the market that supports Nissin Di622? i believe that this speedlite is controlled via infrared only.

Thanks!

According to the review: 622 Mark 1 and 622 Mark 2. My drawn conclusion is that this feature that you wanted only works for Nikon.

Can't remember clearly but you might want to check out Herculus brand trigger carried by sgcamerastore. Can pm them to verify.

yesh i read those. first solution is to just buy the mk2 lol. The firmware update only works for Nikon. Ugh. So sad.I guess ill just have to like cover the flash with my fingers lol

You can use a black construction paper with felt cloth and diy a cover. At least can prevent you fingers from getting burnt....

oh crapppp i did that and now there's a burning odor and a burn mark on the paper

I guess at least it's the paper that got burnt mark instead of your fingers....btw, are you sure you put the felt cloth in place? Felt cloth isn't suppose to burn as easily as paper...

OTOH, IIRC the off-camera flash for Nissin 622 Mark 1 works only when some flash light hits the light receiver....so if you cover all flash light source (pop flash), how is the light receiver(off camera flash) going to catch the flash light to fire off it's flash?

ahhh i missed the cloth part haah. nvm yes i realize it needs light.

i guess i just need to buy a new flash + wireless receivers all.

any recommendations? so i'll just use this nissin as a slave.

yongnuo + trigmaster is the cheapest combo right?

Actually, you can try gundamseed84 advice by giving sgcamerastore a call. If the wireless trigger as mentioned earlier, you cam potentially save abit on the new flash.
