Hi Noob here

Wanted to ask anyone have experience with this cam?? Heard its good, wats e difference with this and K5? Thx All :):)

K-5 is more expensive and thus, more awesome. ;) :bsmilie:

Both are pentax, though, so both are awesome in their own right. lol

Anyone know wats e diff between DAL 18-55mm + DAL 50-200mm kit and DAL 18-55mm WR + DAL 50-200mm WR kit?? Sorry I new at this.

You should read this thread. Has all the answers you were looking for and more.

Dont just ask, do yourself a favour and google..

You need this:http://kmp.bdimitrov.de/technology/lens_terms.html. Points to note: there're no DAL lenses that are WR as well, so you're probably referring to the DA 18-55mm WR and DA 50-200mm WR. And something not mentioned in the website, the lenses basically have the same formula so images will be the same, just the that DAL versions don't have some bells and whistles like quick-shift focusing and focusing distance marker on the focusing ring.

I have the KR with the 18-55 and 55-300 kit. No WR.

It easily out performs my friend's D3100, which was originally my first choice when I decided to get a DSLR. Happy I made the right choice.

WR simply means weather resistant.

DA 18-55mm + DA 50-200mm WR = Weather Resistant

DAL cheaper alternative without weather sealing.

in other words, WR is more expensive. :)

I got KR with Da 35mm if you want can join them on june outing touch and molest their camera then decide yourself hahaha, not hostile but sometime just the same Q popup again

WR tag = weather resistant.

Seems silly to get it with the K-r, since the body itself is not weather resistant.

You can compare the cameras here: http://www.dpreview.com/products/compare/cameras

I can't tell you why you should get the K-r or why you should get the K-5, but here are some reasons why I might get the K5 over the K-r:

1) Built-in levels
2) Weather resistance
3) 100% VF, pentaprism (brighter) versus pentamirror (darker) in the K-r
4) 1 stop noise performance advantage
5) 14 bit versus 12 bit in the K-r (smoother gradients)
6) Slightly more detail at low ISO
7) Faster fps (not really a factor for me)
8) Better focusing in artificial light, particularly tungsten
9) Slightly better Shake Reduction
10) Battery life is significantly better than K-r

Why I still got the K-r anyways, and probably will stick to it (correspondingly)
1) Good to have built-in levels, but don't really need
2) I don't possess weather resistant lens
3) K-r viewfinder is still very good
4) Noise performance advantage no need, K-r already very good
5) I can live with that, though this is really one point that I would really, really, really care for
6) Not needed
7) Not needed
8) Not often used
9) Not needed
10) Buy more batteries lor, third party very cheap

The K-r is also significantly cheaper than the K-5. Of course, you get what you pay for, but both are very good value for money.

K thanks, no need to get hostile here dude!

expect hostility if you insist on asking impossible questions without any prior research.

its not that pple are hostile. but u have to help yourself first. :nono:

otherwise, pple dun even know where to start explaining to u and it is not reasonable for you to just bounce in and expect to pple to hand-hold u all the way. :thumbsd:

not rly hostile, bro.

btw i also kena from CS members before but it kinda reminds me that alot of info can be gotten on the internet...

i think k-r is awesome. it was released less than a month before i bought my k-x, so pity... i like the k-x cos it's a wee bit smaller but honestly, having illuminated AF points actually makes the camera abit more re-assuring in feel and if i knew it would have been out so soon, i would have waited for a k-r.

sad case, mine was 2 months before.. lol

I agree with edutilos. No need to get the WR version if u getting KR. Since KR is not Weather resistant....If budget constraint get the KR , of course K5 is good to have..But equipment is just an enhancement tools. Its very subjective but trust me both is a good camera and value for money.
