This flooding things seems to be like rats. And PUB is like the rats catcher. The flood used to be at the Orchard Rd/Scotts Rd junction. After some measures, it's no longer the problem area. The flood has now gone somewhat upstream to Tanglin Mall.

It looks like they tackle one area, and then, the next "deluge" comes along, the flood has moved on to another area.

50year cycle rain. It seems that this time, the rainfall is even more intense than Jun last year. So, can we conveniently call it the 100year cycle rain?

Also, they said that there were some longkang choke. So, got to hire more longkang inspectors.

Not sure if I wanna to pity those folks whose car got immersed in basement carpark. Well, for me, if I were to park in a "risky" basement carpark, and I see an imminent deluge coming, I would stop whatever I was doing to drive out. Whatever you have to do, it is not worth to pay for car repairs that runs into a figure that has got at least 5 zeros behind.

This is a good reason to increase their $ since Gerard Eee panel review is ongoing. The cost of flood damage and loss of business is a lot, so according to private sector reasoning, this justifies giving him even more $ than current amount since his task is to prevent flooding.

WOW ! ! !

Return of the GODZILLA flood after 50 years.

I doubt the authorities have a clue as to why this flooding happened and how to prevent it in the future.

GSS will be affected if more heavy rain comes and flash floods start happening again and again.

:thumbsd::confused::embrass:

One thing to learn from this floods ... don't shop in basements, don't park in basements, just don't do anything in the basements of any building along Orchard/Scotts/Tanglin/Bt Timah stretch! Phew, luckily I don't live in the basement either!

Godzilla a bit too small.
That's a baby Godzilla. ;p

I doubt the authorities have a clue as to why this flooding happened and how to prevent it in the future.
With all the statistics (inflow rate / discharge capacity) that the PUB and MEWR had collected over all these years and decades, I sincerely believe that they had since figured out the contributing factors behind the spade of downtown floodings in the recent years.

Just that they are not letting the public know because the full fact might incriminate someone else's multi-million dollar pet project.

:)
