hi guys,
if i'm not wrong, the RD2000 is the equivalent of the SB400 (or as close to it) in terms of price and GN. while the logical choice is to go with nikon, the price difference is still a factor. is the savings worth it to get the sunpak over the nikon?

btw, the criteria for this choice of flash is portability (i dislike bulk), decent power (indoor use, mostly small rooms), ability to bounce or be difused with a GF lightsphere (cloud/half cloud) - not sure if the "universal" mount of the lightsphere will fit the sunpak in this regard.

i can get a bnew RD2000 for the price of a pre-owned SB400. also, the SB400 is no longer readily available as i heard that it has been discontinued, but the hunt may be worth it.

cheers! :sweatsm:

Have you seen a SB400?, I am not sure how you are planning to mount a lightsphere ontop of the SB400. And you can only bounce it when your camera is in landscape orientation.

thanks for pointing that out. cripes (i've only seen it in nikon's website, which did not show how the flash adjusts it's angle).
the sunpak tilts the whole body so i assumed the SB400 did it the same way.

anyway, looks like that will limit the ability of the SB400 for me. if only the SB600 were a wee bit smaller. :(

cheers guys!

Can consider other brands. Nissin has a Di422 I think, which can only tilt up/down like the Sunpak. It's more powerful, and has remote triggering capability.
