Hi all, pls give some suggestion and command on this Len. I just bought and found good for portrait and appeture is good at 1.8.

50mm focal length is never good enough for landscape

tho landscape are mostly done on wide angle, but it can be done on any focal length.

to use 50mm lens on landscape is possible but it will be limited to only certain composition.

It is mainly used for portraits by most photographers nowadays. 50mm focal length is very tight especially if you are using a cropped body, there will be serious limitations.

Then again, there are no hard rules that you cannot use a 50mm for landscape. You just have to be creative...

Since you already bought it, why don't you bring it out and try it out on landscape. Don't limit yourself based on people's comments. Just shoot and enjoy the process! =)

If the composition demands such a focal length then yes! Landscapes do not always equate to ultrawide focal lengths, half my time I use teles

Its kinda pointless asking if a lens fits whatever purpose if you don't state what your camera body is.

that being said, i shoot a lot of landscapes, most of my pictures lie in the 24-30mm and 175-200mm range on a FX body. I wouldn't recommend a 50mm (75mm on a DX crop) as a landscape lens. you can still use it though.

edit: i'm also pretty obsessive when it comes to grammar... the word 'lens' is singular. the word 'len' refers to something entirely different.

even 200mm can be used for landscape...depend on your working distance.

so long u think it can means it can, so just shoot and shoot and shoot =)

I don't see why not as for 'Landscape' what will be the main:bigeyes:concern is the "Framing/composition" of the pics that you wanna achieved and not necessary all you 'Landscape' shots will only come out in Wide-angle views, right??

When you do your 'Landscape', just use your :bigeyes:Eyes to/and picture/imagine the scene/things/items that you wanna include within your 'Frame/in-the-picture, and those scene/things/items you'd like to exclude from your 'Frame/from-within-your-picture'...you see it...got it now...??

So pretty much that any focal-length also possible...;)

Simply put, lenses and focal lengths are not genre specific. ;)

you need a wide angle for landscape. 50mm is too tight.

Guys,

50mm can use for anything ...

I am saying this because some people like myself do not have money to buy a few lenses and
we only have 50mm lenses ...

so 50mm lenses can be use for everything and anything.

A 50mm lens can most certainly be used for landscape photography. You are only limited by your imagination and creativity.

Nonetheless, wider lenses are typically used. Of course, this doesn't mean you can't use a 50mm or even a 500mm for landscape.
