Ultra Wide Angle Lens for D7000

Hi, I am looking for an ultra wide angle lens which can also be used as a walkabout lens.

I have a budget not exceeding S$2000 and am willing to consider 3rd party lens.
Would appreciate it if you can give me some recommendation, please.

Few factors for my consideration:

1. Image quality
2. Colour
3. Sharpness

Depending on your shooting style actually. Anything longer than 16mm you can use your kit lens instead.

I think seldom people use a uwa as a walkabout ... kit lens serve a better walkabout lens, higher end walkabout would be 17-55 f2.8
On the short end, the 11mm (tokina) and 10mm (Nikon) are pretty wide on a DX already ...

Now on the price.. I paid ard $1300 for my n10-24mm, but tokina is selling only <1k but yet you are getting f2.8.
use the extra 300+ to buy a good pcs of b+w uv filter and a CPL

What do you meant by walkabout?

For landscape & building, 16mm is generally sufficient for coverage. Anything wider will be better for indoor shots in my opinion, you may want to consider sigma 8-16mm in such case ( http://www.photozone.de/nikon--nikkor-aps-c-lens-tests/625-sigma816f4556dx?start=1 )

Personally, my definition of walkabout lens is a travel lens, i'll go for a lighter weight & wide-normal focal length coverage. I am using 16-85 for most of my scapes' shot.

I find it okay to use it for wide shots... but its not ultra wide angle like Nikon 14-24/2.8, Tokina 11-16/2.8, Tokina 12-24/4.

For buildings, depending how tall it is and how far you are, 16mm on crop body is not wide enough.

Can't say much about the two above lenses, but I used the Nikon AF-S 12-24/f4 on my D200 on a trip to JiuZhaiGou some years back, the results are wonderful. You're welcome to view the album and see some many of the shots taken with this lens.

Nowadays, I shoot with a D700 and use only FX lenses. For my current UWA, I am using the AF-S 14-24/f2.8G. This is really a fantantic UWA lens for FX.
