I am a 50mm person. This is because 50mm forces you to be selective, to compose, to adapt and to find form within the standard viewpoint of your eyes.
I find 35mm similar to 50mm. But 35mm slightly wider angle is abit boring because it is sometimes too inclusive. This can be distracting.
IMHO only, a well taken 50mm pic is usually superb. A well taken 35mm pic is usually decent. I tend to have more usable 35mm photos than 50mm photos. But of the photos I love, there are alot more 50mm than 35mm. Most of my 35mm shots are average.
IMHO also, in this digital age, 35mm is often favoured to 50mm because in post-processing you can crop the 35mm to a 50mm and 'adjust' the composition accordingly. I do not favour such an approach because it takes the fun out of the 50mm. Indeed, I sometimes find the 35mm to be an 'easymode' version of 50mm. lol
