Just a quick question here;
which settings of my metadata do I have to change, such that I can change the exported jpg file to have my name under the "author" section (right click on img>properties>details)

I just can't seem to edit that single one only.

In Library Mode, right menu bar, scroll down to the end, expand the section "Metadata", use the fields 'Copyright' and 'Creator'. You can also predefine these metadata to be applied upon import into LR. Just define it as personal settings and select it during import.
But: that's all well defined in the Help: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/3.0/Using/WSE4A578CD-C387-4da5-B0A0-8C3B9D4CD858.html

yep i know that i can edit the fields 'copyright'and 'creator.' I have already changed those fields to my name already, but the output jpg file just seems to display another name for the 'author' field, so my question now is how I can change the 'author' field

What is written there? Have you set any settings for metadata in the export dialogue?

the author field is not supported in LR3. What camera are you using? it is probably a setting in the camera. Check your settings there how to change it.

im using a canon 5D. seems like its not a camera setting, because i tried to shoot jpgs and the 'author' field of the jpg files directly off the camera are blank, whereas the jpgs exported out from lightroom have the 'author' field written as some weird characters.

its some weird characters. yes i have settings for metadata such as the image creator, copyrights and stuff..but it just seems like i can't change the output 'author' field. so anyway is the author field not supported in LR3, as pointed out my Michael?

You can set Author in your Canon DPP. I am using 5D.

i want to correct my statement. i am a Nikon user and then LR does not show Author but it has a field that says Artist, my guess is it is the same as Canon's Author, however it is set inside the cam and cannot be modified in LR
